i need to make a couple of small patch panels ...one small section of arch with a lip and the bottom corner of a wing
i don't have any shrinking wheels or god knows what
all i can think off is make up a wooden buck out of 2 pieces of scrap wood and then clamp the sheet between them and try and hammer it round best i can
any ideas for making such bits ? doesnt have to be killer quality

thats about the best way i think, make up wooden jigs and just gently heat the metal while stretching, hammering etc, a little heat goes a long way.

See if you can dig out the old Clarkson Motorworld about Cuba. They show a Cuban guy making a whole new wing from a bonnet, using cardboard crease templates, a hammer, a cold/bolster chisel and drifts made from blocks of wood.
Not saying it is easy, but wheels/dollys/mallets make the job easier but aren't essential. It is sadly all down to the skills of the metal worker, something I would dearly love to be able to do.
See about PMing Belair Lugosi. He is a demon panel beater/welder/metal shaper looking at his Chevy and the Zodiac he is working on currently.

or check round breakers for something with a similar shape/profile & chop the bit offf then trim to fit, done this many times when repair panels not avl.

for curves i've always found bending sheet round bits of tubing in vice good for making tight curves or round things like a fire extinguisher or lamp post for larger curves . for radius edges like arch repairs just find a similar shaped object (vices have a lot of edges that can be used for this sort of thing) and just tap away til you have the profile your after . i have picked a few of the specialist tools over time but still use these methods most of the time for things like the front valence on the estate

Good for spending the whole day doing. It's definitely worth it in the end.

That is incredible . There does seem to be a bit of disbelief in the first 5 pages (All I'm up to so far) but this guy is an artist! I think there's some video so I'll have a look at that when I finish work
