These boys have got it licked, collapsed sidewalls suck.. this is what its about... If i wanted to achieve this kind of stretch, how would i go about it? Does anyone know what sort of width/tyre combinations they're running to get this? Is it just a case of using tyres with larger sidewalls? Moar pics too plz

Using a tyre without a rim protector, and a decent profile will result in a more "balooony" stretch. A lot of the tyres we see stretched on VWs are Nankangs which have a good solid rim protector, and they tend to be <45 profile, resulting in a more squared off look.

ive got 155/65 on 7x13s on the front of my daily, and theyve got a smidge more stretch than that(i have rim poke). its all about tall (60+) sidewalls, and no rim protector as mentioned above. saying that I'm going to a 165/55 shortly, in the hope of some grip in the wet!!

I find the bulbous, taller sidewall/no rim protector stretch much more visually appealing than low profiles with the rim protector pulling away from the rim making the tyre wall look concave.
Matt, I'd forgotten how awesome the Uno would have been.

Yeah it would have been, shame I couldn't/didn't want to fit the family in. I'm still undecided on another Uno or a K10 for a cheap runaround. See what comes up cheap I suppose.

It was an inspiration to me, and though I didn't really go searching for slots, when diff had his for sale I knew it was the way forward. I wish mine were as wide. There's a little bit of stretch. Theres a 4x100 pair of 13x7s, that would be excellent on the rear, on the bay at the mo, but I wouldn't like to think about what would happen if I bought them!

but I wouldn't like to think about what would happen if I bought them! What...you'd achieve utter win? I fail to see the problem

Mmm, Indeed, utter win, followed moments later by instant and total guilt attack and complete withdrawl of "privalages".

Buy the 13x7s mark you know it makes sense. She'll soon want the "privileges" back again. I think if I owned your car i'd go for 13x7 slots on the back spaced out to poke a bit, then drop the front 4" so the fronts are tucked. That was my plan for the Uno, crazy beach buggy stance FTW.
Oh and for anybody interested a small majority of the Uno bodyshell now lives on as a Class 7 autograsser, so it sort of achievied its potential in the end.

The stretch might look good but judging by the drivers expression, I reckon he is starting to wonder what he has done to one of the best handling front drive cars ever to turn it into a complete dog to drive

Yeah rounded bubbly streth is far nicer to look at, and drive with imo. Here's my old Kadett with a 165/65/13 on an 8j
