Due to my recent brain leak and hospitalisation the money I got for my Pilot has been removed from the "buying a retro" fund to the "buying Xmas presents for 4 kids" fund. My parents in an act of pre-Christmas goodwill have gifted me my mums car as they just bought a people carrier ( Its a Trajet-y ) Its compact, lightweight, revs keenly, has a great sounding engine, alloys, chromed exhaust, rear spoiler....... Unfortunately it's not: It's this: I'm in no position to turn it down, and may be stuck with it for a while (they even taxed it for a year!). So i need some inspiration! What can be done with it? How can I make it go/sound/look better? (pref on the cheap!) Help!

You could always drop in a 505hp 7.0L V8 Corvette Z06 engine like this guy did. Might not be on the cheap side though. ;D

I think the matiz has quite a few fans on here, and I'm one of them. Excellent wee cars IMO. Tuning was thin on the ground when I had mine though, so I cant help you there.

Who did that urban matiz PS? Offroad quad tyres and spotlights in place of the headlights?

Faster. Faster. Until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

Who did that urban matiz PS? Offroad quad tyres and spotlights in place of the headlights? I was trying to find that as well. I believe it was an Australian guy who referred to it as a 'Manx' rather than a Matiz. But that could be me talking out of the back of my trousers.

Sounds like you're making a good recovery - good stuff!
I think some Japanese-inspired modifications would go really well on one of these cars. Some very wide 12in deep-dish alloys (I'm thinking polished lip and maybe metallic pink centres), with some stretched rubber, lowered and some crazy camber dialled in would look great.

Call me insane, but I'd leave the bodywork and interior well alone! They're plain and utilitarian, and therefore honest. Coolness can best be added by wheel fitment and ride height alone in this case, imo. I agree with BenzBoy that wide rims in a small diameter are the key. Anything bigger than 14" in diameter will just make it look riced up, but some nice wide 13x6" or 13x7" rims would set it off beautifully, in my imagination at least.

its not the most original thing to say but lower it and find some wide wheels and youll be on to a winner. might be an idea to colour code the bump strips on the bumpers too?
