Here's my new addition. Its got 33k miles, MOT til april and is a fairly honest little car. Still running its 993cc powerplant and pretty much its all there if not a little old looking. Its had paint and a bit of filler in the last 30 odd years and the vinyl roof has seen better days but it starts and drives like a good un. It'll probably go under cover over the winter to save it from the road salt but that'll give me chance to have a good look over it and check the brakes and running gear over. Will be looking for a few upgrades so if anyone knows of a 5 speed box and a k5 engine and any other goodies going drop me a line. Cheers. Jody.

Nice little car there man. JDM bolt on arches, some wide 13's, a wee spot of lowering and lose the seat covers = job done! Please don't do it white - we've already got a nice one of those!

Cheers for the suggestions guys.
Its having a patch welded in the floor this week and the guys putting tax on for me then I'll get it at the weekend. Spent all afternoon moving the junk out of my garage and trying to sell a 1986 Renault 5 TSE I have.
I saw this in the local free paper advertised as a toyota 1000 and could only hope that it was a KP30. By the time the patch is done and its taxed it'll still be well under a grand so I'm pretty pleased. Anyone know how many of these are left?
Need to see if I can find a set of Puma steel wheels as I seem to remember there was a set that was quite wide for the diameter. Maybe tack some tabs on them so it can still run the hubcaps.
The interior is mint barring a hole in the carpet under where your heel goes for the clutch and brake. The covers have saved the front seats and they're really good underneath. The back doesn't look sat in. Boot is mint too but unfortunately no carpet in there.
As for colour, I quite like it. I've seen the white one and its a cracking car and will inspire the running gear for this one. What I don't want to do though is make another white one that'll get compared all the time so I might just tidy up what's there. The vinyl roof is split along the seams but if it comes off it'll be a full respray as the glue will all need to come off too.
Leigh, is that a twin headlight magnum grille I spy? I have a 1978 HC estate waiting for the big valve 2.3, 4 branch manifold and twin 48 dellortos I've got in my shed.

Nice find in the free ads man, everyone thinks ebay is the only place you can buy cars anymore! Leigh, is that a twin headlight magnum grille I spy? I have a 1978 HC estate waiting for the big valve 2.3, 4 branch manifold and twin 48 dellortos I've got in my shed. Yeah, I have a 1974 Magnum amongst others! Do you have pics of the estate? I love the estates, I was trying to get one for my dad a while back retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=36170

really good find that!!! And in good condition too Agree with the arch trims (i'm biased as that's what i'm doing to the rat:) ) and wider wheels...would look awesome...
Keep the original colour though, would be unique as hell

ok, made a silly ebay bid but managed to win a starlet hotrod with a hot engine, spare engine, 2 gearboxes plus diffs.
Thinking I'll get what I can for my KP30 and then sell on what's left.
Its supposedly a tuned engine, vernier pulley, lightened flywheel.
Its either going to work out or be a load of landfill.
Wish me luck.

A busy weekend last weekend.
Picked up the KP30 on Saturday morning and drove it 30 miles home. Sweet as a nut and no problems. Didn't like any attempt at going over 65 though so think it needs a few things checking and a good run out.
Would have put some more pictures up but it went straight in the garage as I had to go get my Starlet.
As luck would have it there is a 5 speed 5K box in the pile of parts so that's a good start. Theres another 4 speed and about 4 welded diffs with different ratios.
Theres a spare 40k mile 1300 engine and the one in the car has a Kent cam in it that is reputed to make its power between 3500 and 7000rpm.
Plan is to get the engine in the starlet running. Mock up the 5 speed to the spare engine to make sure it all fits then do a bit of swapping. I've also got a spare 1300 block and head so I can use the block to mock up the mounting points in my KP30 and can do some work on the head as a spare and get it converted to unleaded.
Also among the bits are a couple of steering racks so I might look at fitting one of them and doing away with the steering box on the KP30.
Got a few sets of starlet front struts as well as loads of springs.
All in all a good haul that might reveal some gems.
What wasn't good was the brakes seizing solid on the trailer requiring it to be dragged off and the front calipers removed before it could get pushed on my drive. Not the best in a quiet cul de sac where only old people live.
Will get some pictures together and posted up.

ok so here are a couple of pics of the starlet hot rod that I bought for the engine. Its got a 1300 starlet lump in here with a piper cam and lightened flywheel. The car itself comes with spare wellers with sticky tyres, about 4 welded diffs not including the one on the car, spare front uprights, a spare engine, spare head, spare block, spare 4 speed box and a 5 speed which I'm using. Loads of spare carbs and other bits and pieces too. When it thaws outside I'll carry on trying to get the engine running before the transplant. Anyone a hot rod racer or grasstracker and wants a race car? will be for sale when I''ve got what I need off of it. Cheers. Jody.

loved my kp30 . . . was amazing for a sub 1000cc car, even on the motorways had same issues with running over 65. just reset the points and it was sorted..

Time for an update. Got the starlet running so happy with that. Its a very healthy sounding engine and should go well wiht the 5 speed box. Been looking for a laminated screen so I can take it sprinting and have found someone to make one for me for about 150 which isn't too bad. Place near me can source one through my insurance as well but it'll have a blue tint which mine doesn't have at the moment. Anyway, on to some pictures. Had to mend a hole in the exhaust so had the car in the air and thought it would be a good time to try a pair of the wellers that came with the starlet. They have holes for 4x114 and 4x108. Close enough for my 4x110. I'm kinda liking this but its in 4x4 mode... Not too bad on the back. i48.tinypic.com/9a5nqx.jpg[/IMGDisaster on the front. Have to have a rethink but at least I can use a couple of the rears for a trackday I've got coming up. Had a good look over the car and have found 2 holes that need welding and on the look out for a front passenger wing as this ones had a filler repair. Think taking the wings off may reveal a need for a bit more welding too. Anyone live near Eastbourne and have a welder they'd let me wield?
