My 1st meaningful post on Retro rides - hope you like.... It's cold outside and I should be working on Caddy number 1 but it's also bloody cold in the garage so I thought I'd show you Caddy 2 instead. Welcome to the 80s Orignal pics from the eBay ad The original quote from GTi Engineering. It's crazy original, All the mods on the order form are still in place except for the Blaupunkt. Even down to the original number plates and tax disc holder with GTi Engineering on them. For the eagle eyed amoungst you the BBS are in the garage;) I'm the 3rd owner, the last guy had it for 17 years, the original owner was a friend of his:D Done nothing to it except for drive it Will be doing some preventative maintenance very soon, belts and plugs etc. It's got some rot in the back quarters but it in incredible condition for the age This is now my main transport as the 328 is out of MOT and mid insurance claim where upon I fear it will be written off. I'm torn on what to do with it. I want to do loads of mods but given how rare it is and the heritage of being an original GTi Engineering supplied Caddy I'm not sure it's right to do it. So there we go 1 of Monkeys' Caddys Monkey ;D Oh and seeing as it was ply lined from new the bed is quite good and the tailgate has no bananas anywhere in sight!

There's an opinion forming here!
It won't get any visible mods, I have a Weber carb to fit and will probably swap the points for later electronic ignition. So more making the best of what I have than modifying an original period motor.
Is the best handling Caddy I've driven and does turn heads. If I could just stop it leaking I'd be laughing. All adds to the character I guess!
Thanks for the positive comments fellas

I'm suprised that with all that gear fitted they never put the GTi engine in! Great looking Caddy, leave well alone and preserve it for others to enjoy in the future

I know but the 1800 has been breathed on. I've got a print out from GTI Engineering of the head work and a few other tweaks which takes the output to 100BHP which is in between the JH engine fitted to the Caddy Sport and the DX in the Golf GTi So once the pierburg is replaced and leccy ignition in place it should be quite nippy. Bit of an update of my recent snow based activities.... The 328 in the 1st post is MOT as of 8am this morning so the Caddy can have a rest now and get some TLC. Monkey Old faithfull ready for action in the snow But all is not as it would seem? Old crack re-opened:cry: Managed to pull the tyre off the wheel trying to get back on to the drive Had to break out the winter wheels for Caddy 1 Took it off before it fell off Gotta love the snow!

Christ Monkey, you need some help. Not only an imaginary Caddy, but you've now created imaginary friends with imaginary photos.
