I'm thinking of buying one of these: www.electrostaticmagic.co.uk/Wondered if anyone had any experiance with one of them either good or bad? Plan is to use it to make my Volvo/BMW hybrids engine nice and pretty rather than painting everything. Largest thing I want to do is probably a rocker cover at the moment and ill use an old oven from the tip to bake the coating for now. So anyone got any infos?

Once you get started you will never want to touch a spray can again. There are no solvents or VOC's in powder coating. No waiting for a part to dry, just to cool down. It is faster, safer, better looking and more durable than paint.
A thin metal part like a brake splash sheild can be stripped, coated and installed in under a half hour. You would still be waiting for the paint to dry if you rattle canned it.

Results look good One tip.. if you go to a powder coating company you may be able to get some cheap powder, we have stacks of old stock that we only use as a base colour to get rid of it, colour choice might be odd though

That's Matte Black, Chrome, Gun Metal and Gold right? I bought a kit from electrostaticmagic but i just have dark grey satin and black satin. Do you any more pictures of chromed parts? they actually look pretty good!

None that look any different The "chrome" powders tend to look more like polished aluminium and that is just fine with me.

The summitracing gun looks interesting as you don't need a compressor. Matt when you have had a go with yours perhaps you could write us a quick review?. I am just about to start a restoration on my sons midget and would like to powdercoat items instead of painting them.

Might get into this if its cheap enough. Could be rather useful, and I've already got a suitable compresser/tank (big enough to respray a car which it managed fine)
Loving how shiney Ditchdiggers chrome is, specially on what I think is the wiper motor linkage?
So hard to get a good chrome with spray paint, looks too flat.

ditchdigger if it looks like polished aluminium it's close enough for me too. But like captainmatt said the the wiper motor linkage looks really good!
Anyone ever tried to powder coat an engine block?

The summitracing gun looks interesting as you don't need a compressor. From what i know, guns that don't need a compressor usually make alot of noise. I know the compressor does too but at least you can fill the compressor and pretty much powder coat whatever you need without having to fill it again. The Electrostatic Magic one requires only 17psi iirc.
