All looks to be coming along well - alternator, exhaust, brakes etc, all nice work
I'd go for option b and limit the lock, perhaps a bolt through the lower wishbone where the stub axle (??) meets it? Guessing it'll fail MOT if the caliper hits anything.
Have you thought about making remote brake fluid reservoirs so you can get some decent ram pipes/trumpets (or even and air filter) on the carbs?

I've mentioned it before, but it's tried and tested, Cortina mk3 2.9V6 calipers have the same mounting holes (exact) same disc size and are piston-per-side. Not as easy to get bits for but as it was a fairly common vehicle rebuilt ones are still available as are race/fast road pads and standard stuff even from Halfords
I think they fit Viva discs properly, non-vented (poo). they are compact enough they don't foul anything and you can fit anything down to 13" rims on.

cheers chris,
and I need to have a look into the steering issue. will do at some point. and I will investigate the caliper/MOT issue. thanks
I wish I had heard all that info before I shelled out stupid money for these discs lol. now I'm this far I would say I'm to deep to get out lol.
p.s i have thought about a remote reservoir or a bias pedal box to allow me to move the reservoir etc, but ATM when money is short, I'm just gonn fit short trumpets and socks. and then when the car has been driven some, i will upgrade to a bias pedal box i think.

When I originally fitted the XE in my manta I fitted remote reservoirs, keeping the master cylinder where it was and used a couple of 90degree plastic hose fittings and rubber hose to connect them up - they fit nicely into the m/c rubbers. was also told socks are the worse option for air filters if you're looking for any kind of power.

its not just the MC thats in the way its the servo more.
so i think I'm going to have to run 16mm trumpets. and some sort of filter lol. and upgrade later.

Those will fail MoT if they foul the springs on lock. Plus you're likely to have dents in the car when they go to back it up, put full lock on (tell me the last time you saw an MoT station with heaps of room) and go for the brakes expecting it to stop... and it doesn't. Ford calipers and Victor discs are good to stop a FD victor with 150hp driven fairly enthusiastically. If you can find calipers that fit which accept vented discs, go for it (I'm thinking Wilwood probably have something for the Cortina) --Phil

some things i have been up to over the last few months. picked up another axle! small update, travelled 300 miles to get another axle as it was complete. so I'm gonna rob the ARB, the brake internals and thats it i think lol. not a massive amount being done atm, but small bits none the less. i know have welded the top half of the manifold. and killed my welder in the process. not good. and also stripped the spare axle for its ARB, brakes, and a few other small bits. refurbed them, and will put them on tomorrow hopefully. pending weather lol. also, for the first time, i assembled some brake drums. never done it before and it was easy tbh. done a few bits today, rear anti roll bar on, need to make some brackets to weld to the shell. and started offering up my exhaust parts. its going to have to come out the other side then it does from standard, so i will make custom brackets all around lol. more pics on the exhaust when i have process... ok done some more small bits today. changed the alternator bracket!! ¬¬ point to any one who can guess what it is off and it should go here. a picture of my new rad mounts, need some more small work done to them and then will be on. and just an updated engine bay picture.

some more progress ok some more work, small amounts i know, but it keeps me busy before it gets dark! manifold painted, and on... small amounts of clearance. and now started the pipe work under the car. over the axle, uncompressed and compressed. and now i have a dilemma with the backbox... I'm happy to use this one as it was free. but i think i might do something simular to count did on the brown saloon where it bends under the boot. opinions please ok been on overtime all week, so havent done alot. it did occur to me that i can strip my alloys at work, so i set to it. ignore the missing one, it needs some more work lol. nommm been abit demoralised on this later, i think its the darker nights, and the rainy days. getting home from work in the dark is poo anyway. still working on the zorst. have to make custom mounts as for where I'm routing it. The Kit (need to order some more polybush's)
