Its a fake, well the story is  Done the rounds on all the bike forums, and it was taken down from its original site. Caused a very big stink over there when the authaurities got hold of it. Its still an interesting read, one of the few websites that I have read every page on..... just mesmerising |

I think I remember seeing the story on the original site, I've seen other pictures of the area round Chernobyl and Prypriat as well, one of those places I probably ought to visit in my lifetime, even in the pictures it looks like a haunting place to find yourself in.

Good idea, but I don't think the Imp would make it, and I don't fancy sitting at the side of the road trying to sort an overheating engine in an area with lethal radiation in the soil! ;D ;D |

Only thing I hear with regards to it being fake is that she didn't go through there on her bike as stated because bikes are banned in that zone.

the pics are real but her 'story' is made up. Its not as easy to go there as she makes out i guess

I remember all that happening But I did not know .... Possibley 400,000 died at the time!  Plus an extra 10,000 servicemen, firemen and workers died at the time or since due to the clean up and 'capping' operation. These figures of casualties I thought are normally associated with World Wars !!!  |

WoW, it's one of the places I want to get to before I die. One of my favourite sites is www.abandoned-places.com/ along the same sorts of lines. I find the whole 'abandoned' thing fascinating. |

Hundreds of thousands involved but not actual deaths. |

Yeah I have seen similar figures regarding the number of people involved. Something like 800,000 people involved in the clean up over 2 years and 300,000 people relocated. But only a relative handful of short term deaths.
Like those quotes say the effects are so on-going it's near impossible to define a true figure.
