it uses syncro running gear, but was never known as a golf synchro. golf synchros are normal road cars, fitted with 1.8 driver lumps (90bhp). Golf country's were never offered in the uk afaik and are all LHD. This man speeks the truth, although syncro's were also offered with the G60 engine (not just rallye's, they did a normal one too) and I beleive 16v's. I've seen that black one at one or 2 shows, was interesting to have a look underneath. As said, they're quite different to a normal golf, pretty much a normal shell sat on top of a separate chassis. They're very well thought out under there, everything's guarded and protected and very beefed up. Look like they'd take a beating.

you could just fit knobblies and tall springs on a 4x4 Sierra for a budget alternative.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I just hate the mk2 Golf anyways and this is some sort of horrible bastadisation of it, that quite frankly looks dire! I'm not saying don't roll in one, just my thoughts on it!

These cars where delivered from VW to a company in Austria as a normal Golf 4x4. I think it was Magirius that made them. They took all the running gear out and put on a tubular frame that raised the car 18cm.
In total there are made roughly 7700 of them
All the running gear are mounted on this frame, so that also means that the engine is sitting 18cm lower under the bonnet ;D
Interesting cars!
Thay can also be raised a couple of cm by mounting standard Passat 35i springs...

Definitely needs some stick action or I could be missing the point. Maybe some fat boy tyres would finish the look a bit more, or truck stacks or one of them chrome naked ladies ;D
