So this afternoon a few guys from work were popping down the local scrappy,(real scrappy where you can look around and everything costs 'to you a couple of quid mate' ) So i popped along too not relly expecting to find much but... Found so much coolness! Some funky 70s universal headrests. Dirty in the pic but i celened them up and they are mint!! cost £1 each!!!! a Steering wheel which cost 3 quid! and get this, a set of 5 13x5 deep dish ford steels (aka. dartboards or 'meixco rims!' (not relly)) £20 the set! also scored a smiths clock and some mk1 escort switches for free (deep pockets ) The head rests and steering wheel came from the famous 'cornard mk1 capri' which for those of you who don't know it was a car thats been parked in a drive near me for about 25 years. done up in all out 70s custom style. mettalic blue paint, bule furry interior, slot mag lookalike wheels proper time warp! (was dissiponted to find out their steel and had rusted through!! i wanted them tbh) I found out that the reason it had stood so long was that the guy who owned it was killed working on it when the car fell off the jack! and the family couldent bring themselves to sell that car when it was stiill worth saving. Wish id taken my camra now its just so 70s its unbelivible! so ive got a dead mans headrests nice little story eh? still bargins out there to be had aswell

Which yard is that Slater? The only one I ever used to go to around Sudbury was Springfield Autos. Found a tailgate (sadly bit rusty) tucked away in a shed for a 120A coupe (E10) when I was down 3-4 years ago. A few years before that they had an old C130 Laurel, which a guy from Haverhill bought.
Sad to find out reason why the Capri had sat for so long.

Brinklys in brettnham, closer to bury than sudbury relly but the best local yard by far. tucked away in the middle of nowhere, full of old retros. loads of austin s A35s A40s, beetles, austin 1100. 2 capris, and a comma camper with 'hippy murals' on the side which could make a great rat look camper imo! piles of oldskool alloys!
I only relly visit there and assington but assington is now run by a gobshite and i only relly go there to look around, its about a mile from my house
edit: wheres springfield autos? or it that the same place as assington?
It still had the side pipes but one was dented so i left them

God that guy gets on my nerves, he wants like £10 for a fiesta headlight. I could buy them new for that!

If "scrupulous stan" is the grumpy old bloke then i usually try to avoid him, the mechanics usually give you far more realistic prices

I'm not sure yet. They would suit what I'm planning for the fiesta but need to swap the seats in that for somthing a bit more '70s' first

My old 1275GT had those head rests in when my mate James owned it, a couple of owners down the line and they 'd vanished by the time I got the car. They were cool as f**k

Good haul It'd be great to see some photos of the car in the yard, it's been mentioned on here a couple of times now, can`t imagine it'll stay together for long in there
