Hey guys. this is a no odd question (maybe not if you're following grizzs taunus thread ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) but I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any longer leads to use with a zetec coilpack? as obviously I won't be mounting it on the back of the head and now the plug leads won't reach. thanks in advance ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Are you looking for something that is specific to the Zetec engine and design, or would a set of HT leads made to order work? Or does the cost go silly then ?

When I done Jo's Viva I got a set made up by Carol Cable. At the time I was working in a local parts shop and they were our ignition lead supplier, quick call and they made them up for me in the required length. Still on there now 8 years later . See if any of your local parts shops are supplied by them.

Edd, you might find you can dismantle the coil pack end from the lead quite easily. I have with the ones I got with my EDIS bits. You can buy plain lead to make up new ones if need be. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

thank guys ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I looked at the lead ends but they looked like they weren't gonna shift. I've made leads before but these have a really odd end to them. I'll give it a whirl ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Well, the coil pack end of mine came apart OK but the plug ends were moulded on so maybe they're all like that? (I didn't need that end ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) )

I bought a set of heavy duty extra long leads from Dave at Retro Ford Shop linkyThey're well over the top heavy duty things, a bit pricey, but high quality kit. EDIT - Just been looking through my pics, and before i got the extended ones from Retro Ford, we used the two longer ones from two standard sets. The coilpack is mounted underneath the inlet - ![](http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p97/warnzee/Escort%20Build/DSC00163.jpg) HTH

I think '89 shape Fiestas have a Zetec type coil pack at the back of the engine down under the carb and they reach around to the front of the engine so they are relatively long. (Non 16V type plug ends though)

if you can't find what you need of another car, I'd give magnecor a ring. I bought a set off them made to order & they only took three days. Cost about £50 though

thanks guys, I really appreciate it ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) I had a quick 5 minute fiddle before I went out yesterday and found the coil pack end does come off as Seth said. I'm gonna try and scam some BMW leads up today and make a set tonight. maybe I'll do a how to make thread afterwards too if all goes well ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) thanks again ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
