Gave the car a clean and went for a good hoon around Snake Pass and some of the windier roads up by there. The peaks were completely covered in snow, and the journey back down past Marsden reservoir ended up being a pretty steady one as most of the lane was covered by the white stuff. Also got the tow hook painted: Car handled really well, and though the T1Rs struggle for grip from a half-decent launch, they're holding up well in the corners. I did find that on some of the sharper, full-lock corners though, there was a slight rub from the front which I'll try and sort. However, I found a cracked hose coming from the radiator is dripping coolant away, and that the metal tie-wrap on the manifold has snapped off underneath (probably from hitting a speed-bump) and so the heat-wrap is starting to unravel. The hose is currently sealed with silicon tape, and I've cut off a decent patch of heat-wrap underneath to stop it getting tangled up in anything. Typically though, instead of looking for things I actually need on the internet, I decided to order a new steering wheel. Steering wheel arrived and fitted. Haven't had a chance to sort the radiator hose yet due to the bloody weather! Grabbed a few pics of the wheel though. Driving position now is absolutely perfect.

We ordered some more parts last week: -Yamaha R1 carbs -Yamaha R1 fuel pump -ITG filters designed to fit the carbs Still need to order the manifold, have the carbs re-jetted, and then sort the ignition system out...and then set it all up :annoyed: Oh, and more pics:

Sweet car I had to have some work done on my cav recently for an mot and had to walk to work and on my travels I see a nice original mk2 white gte on a h plate parked in the street it looked like it might have been an 8 valve .Love these cars they used to be such a common sight rare sight now though.

It's strange how fast all the old 'cult' cars disappear. I passed a Punto HGT when I was driving to take those pics, and despite the fact that I always hated those cars with a passion when I was younger, I almost snapped my neck looking at it. It must be the first one I've seen in 5 years, they used to be everywhere!

curse word. Went to change gear when driving to the chippy, clutch pedal didn't come back. ''Oh that's OK'' I thought, ''it'll be the cable that's popped off''. Then I found that under the bonnet, no idea what's caused it to snap! Need to find someone with welding gear pronto...
