Anyone got access to a plasma cutter that I can use to cut the centres out of a set of Capri rims, and the outside of a set of 100E rims ? That would be at either a decent rate, or for free ideally. Will make my life a lot easier when making up Myrtle's banded steels, easier than shoving a grinder about. Centres out of these. Bands off the 100E rims, and then combine the left overs. Thanks.

I'm in East Grinstead, but by the time you'd driven here and back you might as well have paid for someone local to just do it.
Just a thought,,, could you do it with a (big) lathe? Would be way better result too.

I had someone local, Nicola's nephew, but then that suddenly died a death the day before I was meant to take the rims and do them in the workshop myself, H&S ?? I just want the bulk cut away so that I can get in there easier with the angle grinder.

Currently battling with corporate rubbish, flights, logistics, new non functional printer and trying to get a bluetooth kit fitted to my car..... Never rains, it just goes like that ;D The fee sounds good, and I am sure you will find a use for at least one of the toys I will drag along for you, as others will attest to ;D

A pleasure to speak to you on the phone Rian, sorry if I sounded a bit vague and not with it, my body and brain are giving me a bit of a hard time today!!
Myrtle on banded steel's..... I like your thinking :-)
GW - I don't drive these days, I had to give it up about 5 years ago due to poor health (fits and things) but I do get to blast my Wife's car, a Punto 1.9TD (a lot of engine in a very small and light car) up and down a private farm road where we live once in a while :-)
KFW - Your right with the "measure twice, cut once", I just wish I could stick to that when building things..

Your right with the "measure twice, cut once", I just wish I could stick to that when building things.. - if only all of us were as patient as Nightmares, TonyBMW, BnD, Slater, Oldbus et al...... but they do keep us inspired on how it 'should' go. Welcome to RR Ian - fantastic attitude jumping right in and helping out - IT'S WHAT WE DO ;D As you have the gear (plasma cutter etc....) - any recent/previous/current rides/builds we need to see?

Mine got fired up for the first time ever this weekend. WOW! What a bit of kit! I let Ryan (RTLKyuubi) have the first go....and I think he liked it too. I'm now going to be finding all sorts of excuses to cut things up. Just make sure you've got a really good compressor - they seem to enjoy eating a lot of air ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Myrtle on Banded wheels has been the only real modification planned from day one, so that we can get her onto modern safe and wider tyres. Nicola loves the little stillettos she totters about on now, but I do not feel safe on the road

"As you have the gear (plasma cutter etc....) - any recent/previous/current rides/builds we need to see?" Guess I'd better start a "greetings from a newbie" thread with a few details "Welcome to RR Ian - fantastic attitude jumping right in and helping out - IT'S WHAT WE DO" Thanks for the welcome I have been a lurker for more years that I can remember and have learnt so much from reading this fine forum that I thought it was time I gave something back. "You in the trade then or just have plasma cutters sitting around for emrgencies? lol" Lol, you never know when a plasma cutter will come in handy ;D Ive not been "in the trade" for at least 17 years now, but the last car place I worked at was restoring classics which gave a real taste for Lancia's a car sadly I have never manged to own..
