Unsure on longevity (the original wheel centre is designed to flex, the thick bit of stainless its welded to is not), but love the concept and the outcome!

Really want to do this with the wheels off of michelles swift, we have the originals that are 14x4.5"!!! Would like to machine off the rims and create some 15x7" out of them.

I looked at a specialist firm in UK that will do this for you (depending on the rim). Aparently not all are suitable - but these guys (IIRC - www.splitrims.co.uk/ ) will do one off etc... I'm toying with stupidly wide original 200/Stag alloys - but it's one of those back burner jobbies until the GT6 is done. All that's required is a wide enough flat face to drill and tap for the rim to bolt onto..... the guy I spoke to was really great and helpful. He faxed me over a drawing of measurements he'd require and could let me know if it was do-able before I shipped anything..... Good luck if you're going for it James. |

Do Image not offer a similar service? I'm my experience Image will do whatever you want but being a bigger company, they will need a kidney as a deposit and your first born as payment upon completion... I'm not knocking the products mind - I mean, who could not like these on this?!  |

I was just thinking the same thing last week , if it was possible to machine off the outer lip of an alloy wheel and bolt on a new lip to give it a bit of girth.

^^This is way more thoroughly engineered than bolting on a new lip. I'm not certain how you'd even shave off the bead seat lip and "bolt" another lip on? I'm trying to imagine that.  |

^^That's not a new lip. That's a new half-rim. I cannot imagine how you could bolt on just a new lip. I think the earlier comment should have read rim rather than lip |

As usual TB is correct - I should've pointed out the guy did warn me that it ws only feasible if not disturbing the seating bead........ I'll dig out the drawing (very basic TBH) and I'm pretty sure it has it all explained on there.
