Hi I'm in Japan at the moment for work. PLanning to be in Tokyo next week-end. Can anyone recommend anything car related to see here. Where are the places to go. Retro specific would be even better.

Have a great time and I hope you get to see some really cool stuff. Having said that...it's almost guaranteed you will in Tokyo.

I hear the convenience stores are a must visit once you're in Tokyo and also Up Garage stores too. So much I want to do 'when' I visit Tokyo... gotta hit up the Harajuku district too.

A few hours in Harajuku will have your eyes out on stalks. I spent ages atop a bridge there with my SLR while the girls I was with went shopping down Takeshita Street. Merc SLRs, Lambos, an RM bus, umpteen aircooled 911s and a few G-Wagon convertibles were just some of the highlights. If you're into aircooled VWs, Flat 4 is well worth a visit. Ostensibly it's a shop, but in reality it's probably the best museum dedicated to California Look VWs in the entire world. It's four stops from Shibuya on the Toyoko-Something line and across the road from Meguro Audi which will probably have some rather nice R8s sat outside...

Hi Folks Thanks very much for the suggestions - they are really helpful. Maybe I might stretch to buying a camera here.

I reckon you should get some work done, we're not keeping you on the books to prat around taking photos of old cars.
