Model: BMW 740i
Year: 1994
Mileage: 154k
Tax: End June 10
MOT: 15th April 10
Location: Blackpool
Additional Information:
I bought this a couple of months ago, and God forgive me for putting it up for sale, because it’s the best car I’ve ever had. It is brown after all!
It has Mojave Braun metallic paint, full Sand Beige leather (no splits or damage), 5 way adjustable electric seats, Walnut inlays, 4 electric windows, Cruise control, dual zone climate control, on board computer, 6CD changer in the boot, Automatic Stability and Traction control, Front and Rear side airbags, 16 inch BBS style 5 wheels, Metal tilt/slide sunroof, and a switchable sports/auto box.
The good thing about all this technology is absolutely all of it works! The only fly in the ointment is the digital display for the climate has some dead pixels, but I’ve got a guide off the web so I’ll have a go at fixing this at the weekend.
Bodywork wise it’s very good, if you scrutinise it, it has a tiny scab no bigger than 20p on the bottom of the driver’s door, a 5p sized spot of lacquer peel on the bonnet.
It’s one of the very very first E38 shape 7 series cars, and it’s been very well looked after by its previous owners. It has a fully stamped service history, all but the last 2 stamps were carried out by a BMW main agent. The last service was done at 150k and the car’s done 154k, with 3 green lights left on the service indicator. I’ve got the original service book, and a wad of other receipts for various work carried out, and I put a new battery on it in January. It’s got MOT til the 15th of April, and tax til the end of June.
It drives absolutely spot on, the engine is quiet, smooth and powerful, the ‘box shifts smoothly, it just wafts along in a way that 2 tons of Bavarian metal should do! It has the tiniest hint of ‘shimmy’ at speeds above 70mph, which could be a wheel out of balance, but at the worst it’s an arm or a bush that would be a simple fix.
MPG wise, on a run I’m getting 27/28 mpg at 70mph, and mid teens to low 20s around town.
The only reason I’m considering selling it is because I work a mile from home, and I bike to work, so it’s just not getting used as much as it should.
(16 years ago this car would have cost you the thick end of 45 grand!)
