Quick tyre question and some pics for your trouble

I just got myself a set of 16 inch wheels for my audi to save me powder coating the 15's that are on there (tyres keep going flat)

I'm looking on the tyre sites for prices and notice all season tyres are about £20 more than summer tyres.

Would I be all over the road in winter if I went for summer tyres? Does it really make any big difference?

Summer tyres aren't amazing in the wet, but they are all I've ever run. They handle rain fine, the winter tyres are aimed at tracherously deep puddles, ice and snow.

Summer tyres aren't any use below @7c or so.(i.e. nice icy england for half the year)
we've got cars at work that we can't test drive until it warms up and the owners have to sign disclaimers saying they accept the risks when they buy them.
not worth the risk IMHO ;D

When I say summer tyres I don't mean semi slicks or anything. I was looking at something like this;

I didnt think they could be that bad in the cold but thats why I was asking as I'm no expert.

its the rubber compound that makes the difference ,our cars have fully treaded tyres,but are super soft when its warm but when its cold -forget it.

Well, those "sunny" tyres are going to be wibblepoo no matter what the weather!
With that tyre size you have to go through many pages of garbage to get at anything nearly worth buying!

I've run them for years, decent tyres for cheap. Not amazing in the wet, but perfectly predictable. Maybe not ideal for a swing axle rear though, due to a stiff sidewall.
