Model: Vauxhall Carlton 2.6i CDX estate
Year: 1994
Mileage: 111,000
Tax: No
MOT: August 2010
Location: NE Norfolk
Price: £350
This is a late Carlton CDX estate with the 2.6 Dual Ram straight-6 and auto 'box. I bought it because I was in need of a load-lugger, but then a diesel Espace came up at a price I couldn't refuse so I bought that as well. In an ideal world I'd keep the Carlton as it's a lovely car to drive, but alas this is not an ideal world and I have limited space, not to mention bills coming out of my ears.
The car seems to have been well looked after - the interior is in good condition, it drives well and the engine is sweet. The electrics all seem to work except the cruise control and the offside rear window, and the central locking can be temperamental. The heated seats work fine, which is a bonus in this weather. The engine has plenty of poke and with the gearbox in sport mode it has a fair turn of speed.
Externally it's generally in good nick for its age, but the lacquer on the bonnet is peeling on the left near the windscreen, and there are a few odd scabs of rust in places like the bottoms of the doors. There are a couple of minor dings but no real dents. Rear arches inside the door shuts are solid. Underneath seems sound too - I haven't had the sill covers off to check the sills, but everything else looks OK. One rear tyre is getting a bit low, but the spare is good.
The tax ran out end of January but it's MoT'd until the end of August.
