Alite there ladys and gentleman, been loitering this place for a while now so though i should show off my stuff.
Had my last project at the gathering last year, a matt black k10 micra, it can be seen in the background of the first pic, the day before i sold it =(
heres the story since october....
there was lottie the volvo
but insurance tried molesting me so i sold that to fund my new insurance on........
not actual one, i never got any pics of the thing.
was a rover metro gta, that decided to blow up on teh m4 on the way home.
as i needed a dailyish car i nabbed this up.......
a pretty nice little 306, got me by, but never liked it realy.was french.
so i hunted around and scoured the wonderfull ebay to finally settle on this little badboy beast.....
now i was told on the phone the car is known locally as SHITHEAD, sounded perfect if I'm honest. went three stops on the tube and met a truely lovely gentleman who invited me in for tea and biscuits (these are my favourite kinds of people). i then deprated with the wonderfull golf to start getting my rat on again.
first thing was to stop the slight mis-fire on the 1272cc powerhouse of an engine, this was done by removing a small metal casing over the dizzy which was catching one of the sparks.
next was to spend more of that handy feature of a student account (the overdraft, a feature i don't think i havnt been out of since i opened the account) and i bought some wheels.
ATS Classics, 13x7 fronts, 13x8 rears with stretch.
one wheel was damaged (hence affordable price) but that was repaired at KO wheel refurb in cheshunt. recommened service, done a good job.
again using the overdraft (ohhh how i love it) i picked up some 2nd hand suspension.
the units are pretty seized at teh minute and me being impatient instead of soaking them with lubricant and then fitting them, i took the helpers off the rears and put them on, fronts proved to be alot trickier, VAG designed the top mounts to be a top pain and had to drive to a garage (rears dropped on ats, front standard on 14s with balloon tyres, the most reverse rake i think physically possible!) and have them gun the tops off, then drive home with no top mounts.
now on but need to drop more, so I'm goin to try that patient soaking thing so i can wind them down.
i then started to get my "rat out" using an angle grinder, a wire brush head, some nitromors, sandpaper, a dremel and lots of arm ache.......
how SHITHEAD sits this afternoon
it doesnt look too low at teh minute, but it is pretty low already, speedbumps do hold me back already, but i need to get the coilovers to un-seize then it will be nice and low.
also once lower and with a shorter scaffolding pole i can roll the arches slightly more (traveller arch rolling FTW!!)
whats to do then.....
brakes --> metal on metal isnt very effective so they are on order
driveshafts--> nice amounts of grinding when cornering, hopefully get some reconditioned units or just a whole new lump and box, why not!
mirrors--> some more retro styled mirrors on route
suspension--> be patient and then it can go alot lower
ciggarette lighter--> it doesnt have one?? fit one for the satnav!
sound sytem--> needs something done, I'm running on one speaker
and many many others..........
cheers guys ;D
