Had this for aaaaaaaaaages but its starting to get to where I want it so thought i'd start a thread. I've actually gone about this the right way, so first things first was good suspension (custom coilovers) and brakes (296mm Carlton GSI disks/calipers and braided lines) - though its still on cut springs in the pics as I can't run the coilovers with those wheels until I put some narrower adaptors on. Current mods Cut front springs 17x7.5 BMW RC041 split rims with 205/45 (f) and 225/45 (r) tyres Passenger mirror removed with custom blanking plate Carlton GSI front brakes De-catted exhaust with mid box removed Pipercross induction kit Blacked out headlights and indicators Now its all pretty much sorted i've either got a turbo kit for the C20NE or a Saab turbo engine which I can put in. Also currently half way through respraying it. Check the shine on the roof, thats straight out of the rattle can as done in the dark this evening ;D the rest will be satin black. Matt

Nice one Matt, she's looking quite a bit different since i last saw it Id be quite interested if you chose to go the saab route as i could never find a definate yes or no as to wether it will bolt onto a vauxhall bellhousing. I know a few of the fwd brigade have put them in with the saab gearbox, but i have yet to see one the right way round ;D Steve

Check out the PPC Saab-engined Escort, which has a Saab engine on an Omega gearbox.

Pedobear peeps at the baby on board sign lol. I'm tempted to graffiti an S on the end of Turret then scrawl a load of swear words over the roof lol.

Been running turd for a few days and finally broke yesterday. Got AA'd home and i've discovered the cambelt is lacking a few teeth. Luckily they're non contact engines so will just fit a new belt and be away.

How effective is that intake on the off-side wing? Trying to suck air sideways through the boundary layer is not going to produce great results.

How effective is that intake on the off-side wing? Trying to suck air sideways through the boundary layer is not going to produce great results. Its a Pipercross Viper enclosed induction kit so air is fed directly into the end. There is about 1" of silicon hose joining the intake to the filter. If you put your hand over the intake the revs drop. I usually put them on the front of the car but that was impossible on this without moving the AFM. Matt

Looking good. I like the way you seem to just quietly plod along with The Plan in your head and then reveal utter coolness. I never thought I'd say that about a Vauxhall Carlton ;D

Damn, we must have been thinking along the same lines because my Carlton will shortly be getting a satin black makeover. In my case for no other reason because i need to make it look a little more respectable as i've moving into a shared house where the landlord lives in and i doubt if he'll be too pleased with it's current condition!!!

Matt The best place to put intakes is quite often the scuttle under the windscreen, as on many cars it is a negative pressure area.

looks good in satin black kinda like one of the police cars from robocop ;D though i think i would have gone with some ducting and put the intake in one on the redundant fog light holes or behind an NACA duct in the wing big red round thing don't really jell with the rest of the car . not knocking it though just my opinion on the look
