Well, it's been a long time (nearly 4 years).
I don't usually get sentimental about cars I've built and sold (the K-Rapid, the Sprinting Allegro, etc), but I missed the banana in my life.
I'd kept in loose touch with the Canadian guy who had bought it and cruised around the mean streets of Bournemouth in it, answering his questions and helping him with car from a distance.
All fine until I realised it had been off the road for a year or so, so casually asked him if it was for sale. This was yesterday.
He replied it could be.
We threw some figures around, he sent me some pictures, and I agreed to buy it back.
Cue a rush to get a trailer hired, and a 2am start from home (Penistone, South Yorkshire)' 254miles to Ryans house in Bournemouth.
We arrived and I saw what I lost 4 years ago! We got it running (the Dellorto is full of curse word and the accelerator pump doesn't), and stuck it on the trailer before Ryan could change his mind!
Then trundled 254 miles back, in order to get the trailer back to the hire shop by 2pm.
It needs work. The Bournemouth sun and sea air haven't been too kind to the body, it's looking a bit sun bleached and the wings are bubbly. It runs curse word, but that just the carb struggling.
But it's back, and I'm going to make it good again. Watch this space.....
