Here we go!
I've been cruising around in this beast for almost two years + after much thought (and another retro coupe turning my head!), I think the time has come for us to part ways..
I was using the car daily up until december 2009 when it failed its MOT spectacularly and I decided to take it off the road till the summer- But I think I'll have to admit defeat and pass it on to someone with the time and skills to get it back on the road.
Up until today I was fully intending to get it fixed up before the summer but I've spotted another retro chariot that has caught my eye and I think its time for a change - I'm sure you all the know the feeling!
Since owning the car I have had the head gasket done, recon cylinder head fitted, new front springs + rear leaf springs, recon diff fitted, full performance exhaust + peco 4 branch manifold, DIY satin black respray, new mint check interior fitted, new ignition coil + other little bits and bobs.
The Capri failed its MOT quite impressively in decemebr after passing with no advisories the year before! Its mainly welding and a few other which I'll list below:
- Reg plate lamp not working, indicators, windscreen washer + offside wing mirror cracked.
- Needs 3 new tyres.
- Handbrake needs attention.
- Corrosion: Offside front suspension mount, offside rear suspension mount, offside + nearside front anti roll bar mount , offside front seat belt anchorage.
- A couple of other little bits.
It still starts first time after being stood for 3 months and drives and stops quite well, made 200 mile trip from York to Wales just before I took it off the road no probs and I'd be confident driving it anywhere if it was still road legal!
Out of all the retro chariots I've owned this gets by far the most attention and comments- it has real presence on the road.
With a little bit of time (and welding skills) this would probably be an easy fix for someone.
Really wouldn't like to see it broken for parts - would be kool if someone could save it and enjoy it as much as I have.
I will be in North Wales until sunday where the car is at my folks place, then I will be heading back to York- but it would be fine to view the car anytime.
Below are some pictures taken last summer, I will get some more recent pics at the end of the wknd as I don't have my camera lead with me. The car is pretty much the same but with a few more little rust spots and a 5 pence sized hole in the nearside wing; which is pretty rotten but would hold up for another couple of years with a bit of filler .
Also has a decent Sony Xplod cd player and 4 Xplod speakers that are not included but may be negotiable upon sale!
Someone please save this beast, I'll let the pics do the talking:
Cheers for looking, any questions just ask.
