Nice little motor you have there mate and I'm with you all the way with the bike carbs, but don't be disapointed if you don't get an instant upgrade in performance cos you wont benefit from the carbs until you have got the exhaust required to cope with the increase of air flow. As someone els mentioned a leary cam will make all the differance followed by a visit to a rolling road to get it set up 100%, As for the fuel pump i cant see the standard one coping so i would look at fitting an electric one. Still no rush to get all the goodies on and like most of us it all comes down to money. The best advice i can give you is be 100% sure as to what you want to do before spending a penny and do it once changing your mind works out bloody expensive. Keep us posted on your progress

that stuff in the engine bay is wax dude... youll know about that if you ever have to remove a wing... you have to melt the stuff off the bolts to undo them haha... best bet imho is get a blow torch and just lightly waft it over the area while you wipe it with a warm wet rag... (works for mine) failing that loads of spirit and a bristle brush...... (probably safer while the engine is in as you may risk setting fire to it with the engine in using a blowtorch.... Looking goood tho

Looking good mate!
I just wanted to vouch for PhilJ's work. He's just put mine on the H&R cup kit, full poly bushes, top mounts, ARB blocks, new arms etc with a full stainless exhaust and 4 branch. His work is TOP NOTCH.
As for the result, well I've never had so much fun with my clothes on! The car makes me grin like Jack Nicholson!
Keep us posted on the bike carbs mate

havent updated in a while as i had to get rid of the leon and get an estate for the dog... So not had much chance to do anythin to the polo recently. Still cleaning the engine bay, and I have my inlet manifold bolted on now ready for the bike carbs to go on. All i need is some vaccum tubing to attach the carbs to the manifold lol. Then i can figure out how I'm going to run a choke cable into the car, and sort out the acclerator

This thread caught my eye as I have exactly the same car but it's blue! Even the black sprayed steelies are the same, i took all my plastic off on the arches and sills and got it all sprayed to match the car, it looks good I know its been a long time but have u made any progress on this car, I'm keen to blow torch my bumpers but heard they can crack easy? Yeah, club polo is mainly full of idiots there are a few of good people on there though. Most people on there know what to do but don't reply to threads if the mods are minor

I've postponed the bike carb idea and got a weber dmtl that its currently on, but thought it would be rude to not see what they looked like on.. I put lowered the front by 70mm with Gmaxx shocks and springs, the rear by 40mil and standard shocks. I had an incident when I put them back on the car at the front though... I'd put a washer back in the wrong place.... just the nose down after sorting that balls up lol the front bumper needs some attention, trying to smooth some scratches out of it etc The new alloys up the road after what seemed like an age reboring them... The back bumper seems to be distored so that will be off next to try rectify otherwise another bumper will have to be sourced. Ideally I want the bumpers with the red stripe on them. Oh and don't worry, I'm changing the tyres and these are just some cheap alloys I got for now, i do like them though. Kinda reminds me of an old rally car or something lol I still need to sort the throttle cable out properly, and fit a proper choke instead of the traveller version I've made it.

I then got some coilys for the back for curse word all, cleaned them up and stuck them on aswell. Pics of the refurbed front struts and ARB I got back from work, the sun was shining and I was feeling frisky. After months of umming and arring, I finally took the rubstrips off. its showed up a couple more surface rust bubbles, but overall it looks good I think. Ideally, I want to put the GT stripe there Also took managed to get more wax and grime out of the engine bay, and refitted the front bumper. No pics of bumper back on, but after takin it round the block a few times I got a quick snap of the two beasty's I miss my passat lol..(I know its not retro..)

I do like this saloon still, makes me want one all the more. Soon as I've got the cash together I'll be getting myself a saloon to restore and tool around in.

I know it's abit, same old, but some nice black G60 steels would look epic on this.
Allways partial to abit of saloon on all the old Hatch versions.

Thanks I think 15's look to big on a Polo tbh mate. Could use mk3 golf steels but cba payin out for them. I'm after some wide 14" wheels, but they still need to be in keeping with the retro-ness. Nothing too new or blingy. Just fat! ha

cheers martin. I will do when I've got some dolla And yeah I've still got teh carbs, just need to get a little T-peice made up as I manage to snap the fuel return/inlet on one of them lol I've got a fanimold and new gasket (but forgot to get the vac advance nipples put on so that needs modding) and its good to go on. Gonna try it off the mechanical pump, and if its not enough get a solid state facet with a regulater (with gauge for under bonnet pimpness lol) Maybe going down the AEE route with it next year, funds permitting and if I can get rid of my bloody clio... I want a retro daily as I love driving round in my polo Hows the parade doing then mate? Do you ever go back on seatcupra.net? I do every once in a while, and also clubpolo has gone loads better! Polo3 is dead
