....For the viva. I want to stick some new-fangled points that work by electrickery instead of........well........electrickery.....but you know, you get the idea. The problem is kids is that they don't do them for a viva or a chevette - so what's a boy to do? Someone said once that 1500 Spitfire ponits go in the Delco D403 dizzy without too much hastle - but I got some on that basis and they where different. Does anyone know what else uses the Delco D403 dizzy?
I'm not beyond doctoring the leccy ponits to fit, but they need to have a hole a the right end (or space for me to put one there) and be small enough and work on an anti-clockwise rotation dizzy.
Any clues?? Cheers in advance.

Or you could really drag it into the 21st century and fit a Megajolt! :-)

Ohhh. What's that? I like the sound of it!
Well that bloody site doesn't have the 1149C on there anymore. It's sods law tht I can get hold of an ignitor kit for a 1500 spitfire really easaily and chaeply - can can I get one for the delco dizzy? It doesn't help that all the people selling them on evil bay don't actually state the serial number of the part - they just say what dizzy it fits or what car - grrrr.
Tell me more about the Megajolt!

Megajolt is a stand-alone ignition system that does away with your dizzy all together. It would require you to fit a crank sensor&trigger wheel, you then have a small ECU which you can adjust via a laptop. Its good stuff, just requires you to have a little electrical know-how to wire up the parts and set it up. Google it for more info Steve

megajolt would be an ideal solution, just need a crank sensor and trigger wheel, easy to get via ebay or make your self.
To get a full 3D ignition map you need another input. this can be a MAP sensor or a TPS sensor.
I would go with MAP sensor unless you have a set of bike carbs or webers that mean you don't have a very good vacuum signal.
Loads of info on the web.

Nice one, thanks guys. Yeah, I think the old mappable ignition would be slight overkill on a 1256 viva lump, but I like the idea. Unfortunately my bank (and woman) does not. Ignitor it is then. Just the ignitor kit for the delco dizzy is pretty pricy though, but I suppose once it's bought - thats it. Does anyone else run an ignitor? How much of a difference does it make on running and mpg?

Try Aldon Automotive - they sell re-badged Pertronix ignition stuff and appear to list the one you want. www.aldonauto.co.ukI've got one of their kits on the Cortina and have had no problems with it. ;D

Let us know what you do. I've been meaning to have a go at mine for ages but it's not broke so I'm not going to fix it.
