Not much to report really, just thinking about ideas for bits. I want to get some super moto rims for it, but they're really expensive. I found these.  But obviously I would need to lace them to my hubs. I wanted to powder coat the rims red, bobber style, but powdering and getting them laced and buying them, is going to just be rediculous. I was thinking as they're anodised alu anyway, I could just spray them with red enamel? What do you think? Also, I can see loads of pages on the net on how to lace wheels, but has anyone done it? How dificult is it to warp your brand new rims trying to do it? Also, I'm a bit concerned about safety as well as this thing should rip. |

rim lacing isn't too hard. you will need a very straight piece of steel/alu bar to measure the rim offset on the hub and you have to calculate the centre, not just from the bar to the lip (obviously).
you can clamp the axle in a vice and spin the wheel on the axle to sort the run out.
spokes go onto the hub first, take good pictures of how the original wheel was laced and work from that.
Red rims ftw!

Nice one, thanks. It's not a time sensitive build, so I'll sit tight for a couple months until the Z and the Honda are finished, and see if I can just find some wheels that will just go straight on for simular money. That way, I can sell the originals as complete. they are very straight, and in good nick, so they should get a fair price.

this weekend i went to a bike show and picked up a flyer for a wheel building company www.ne-wheelbuilding.co.ukdon't know anything more but should give you an idea of prices and they can do powdercoat/enamel and anodizing ttfn glenn |

I watched american chopper earlier and they chopped out all the spokes and powdercoated the rims. Could do that with gold?
Then respoke them of course.

here are the instructions for rebuilding a wheel www.instructables.com/id/Rebuilding-a-Spoked-Wheel-for-the-Royal-Enfield-Bu/but this is for a british bike and the kwak could possibly be laced diferently, i will attempt most things but wheel building isnt one of them as to me there are to many chances to mak a kickup of it, and a wheel collapsing at speed or vibrating the bike don't appeal to me plus the making jigs to support the wheel etc etc ttfn glenn |

Well there's only a few hours to go and ebay won't allow me to add any new pics or comments  - well I just took a few, so anyone who's intrested, here you go....   Headstock...  wheel/drive sproket alignment   and a bit of me for size/ride height etc....  I really hope it gets more than it's currently sat at - if it stays under £550 I'd much rather keep it - but it will reluctantly go for whatever the auction ends at  |
