I'm selling my P100 turbo diesel truck as I have done what I wanted to do with it, now I want to use my Rover 220 as a daily instead of this!
Year: 1992
Mileage: 147k, (think its had an engine swap at some point though)
Tax: End May 2010
MOT: will be sold with full 12 months
Location: In daily use! Collect from Crewe or Peterborough.
Price: £595 no offers
contact: O78OO 9O2396
Bought this last year to help with the 'bo11ox museum' house renovation project in France, and its been my daily ever since. I have done 20k in it in 12 months including 4 heavily loaded return trips to France, one towing a car on the A-frame!!! Will sit at 75 mph all day and returns 37mpg round the doors. Starts and runs very well. The low gearing and firm suspension makes it quite zippy and fun to drive believe it or not! Its got the original Ford radio with code still, and is generally in good, original condition, not some bodged-up ex-builders sh1tbox. (I got it off an old boy who'd had it for years, using it to go down to his smallholding and take stuff to the tip etc). In my ownership the following parts have been replaced:
Brake M/cyl, diesel lift pump, stop solenoid, starter motor, water pump, filters etc, also cambelt done by me 6k ago. Tyres, exhaust and clutch are all in good fettle and I have changed the oil every 6k while i've had it.
Body wise, there is a bit of grot in the rear buck along the side/top edges where the tonneau cover hooks fasten on, I wouldnt be surprised if there were a few other bits in the buck as well, though its boarded out so you cant see the floor pressings. The buck is bolted on, its not structural so this is not an MOT issue. The cab and chassis structure themselves are very sound, with two very small bits of welding having been done in the past (not by me), but no more bits needing attention. It passed the last MOT 7 months ago without any welding or body-related advisories. Its got a pukka towbar which is properly wired into the main loom of the truck including buzzer on the indicators etc (and is an amazingly capable tow vehicle I might add).
Other faults:1) Fuel gauge is a bit erratic, 2) radio speakers are terrible, 3) if you overfill it with diesel it drips from a vent on the filler neck for some reason. 4) ladder rack thing behind the cab is bent due to me overloading it!
This photo is from when I got it a year ago, but it looks much the same now. I will valet it at the weekend and bosh some more pics up when I have done that.
This is a recent pic:
Its a nearly 20-yr old truck, so don't expect the concierge to rush out to greet you when you rock up at the Hilton with it, but if you want a solid old pick-up that you can use straight away and that wont clean you out at MOT time, you could do a lot worse than this one.
Any Q's give me a shout.
Cheers
Richard
