For sale is my mk2 fiesta xr2 that has had an almost complete restoration. Originally I set out to get an older RWD ford but when this come up I couldn't refuse it. I have since done a lot of engine work and tidied a few things up now so its a very very nice package on the whole now this car. But as with anything when you set out to get something and end up with something else your never totally happy unless you get what you originally set out for.. So I'm back on the hunt for another RWD ford. Anyway that's enough waffling here are the details:
MOT : April 2011
Tax : October 2010
Mileage : 104000
History : TONS!
Condition : MINT!
Location : March, Cambridgeshire PE15
Use:
The car does not get used daily it is kept in a shed with my cortina, under a cover etc and only comes out when the weather is nice and after a wash and polish it is also always put up clean. Sad I know but its been my baby.
Engine:
1.6 CVH with a receipt from ford in 1993 for complete replacement with a new unit for some reason so the engine is not as old as the car. Very recently IE this month I stripped the head off the engine for what was going to be a quick clean up, cam fit and carbs but it ended up being a bit more than that, the head had a skim, mild/heavy port and polishing of the head to achieve greater flow for the new setup. Inlet manifold and exhaust manifold are perfectly matched to the gaskets and inlets/outlets of head no steps there at all, all valves were re-lapped in after careful cleaning and polishing, new valve stem oil seals which are the later revised type combined with the valve seats so they don't leak. Exhaust ports and combustion chamber almost have a mirror finish to stop carbon buildup. janspeed 4 brand exhaust system which was painted in a thick coat of high temp satin black then wrapped with heatwrap all the way under the sump to where it joins the rest of the system too. Kawasaki 40mm Keihin zx7r carbs which have been jetted, had needles adjusted and air correctors blocked off to fuel the car engine correctly, fueling is pretty much perfect. They are fed by a yamaha R1 fuel pump which has a built in pressure reg and turns its self off when it gets up to pressure so very efficient pump. Kent CVH22 cam. Complete head gasket set and bolts every gasket on the top end has been replaced along with head-gasket and bolts. New cambelt also. New silicone joiners for the carbs and hi torque jubilee clips to ensure they stay on tight and don't pop off. 5 speed box in perfect health with a great clutch too. Engine runs fantastic, idles great and its quiet when cruising and tons of induction roar when giving it some, no horrible sounding exhausts here.
Running Gear:
Gaz adjustable coilovers all round will come with correct c spanner and tool for adjusting front shock damping, not very old with performance print out for all the shocks. Completely polybushed all round as far as I can recall there are next to no standard bushes left on the car they are all polyurethane, the car handles like it is on rails with very positive steering and tons of feel. Brakes are fantastic and have no problems, new master cylinder and servo.
Interior:
All standard XR2, currently has a non standard head unit that will be removed on sale. All the interior is in fantastic condition there is a tiny bit of wear on the drivers bolster back support part BUT a replacement mint seat is included and may even be fitted if I have time to do it.
Bodywork:
Absolutely fantastic, had a complete respray along with many panels replaced and repaired. Really would be here all day if I mentioned all the work its had done. I have a complete portfolio of all the work it had done, please visit smg.photobucket.com/albums/v318/tizo/XR2/ and enter "fiesta" as the guest password there you can see all the pictures I have of the car and of the rebuild of it.
Misc:
Recent brand new blue top tint windscreen fitted. Wheels are standard XR2 pepperpots with nearly new/great condition tyres with plenty of life left in them. It flew through the MOT with absolutely no advisories at all which is understandable. I have also treated the underneath to a fresh coat of clear wax oil as well as some other crevices.
This is a fantastic car and in my opinion show ready, some of you may have seen it at RS central day and it will be at Fiesta in the park in may should it not be sold by then.
I would take a RWD ford of any description doesnt have to be clean/mint as long as its got mot, tax & got a bit of grunt in the front, don't really want a side-valve 100e for instance or a 1.8 sierra haha. Swaps and PX(money my way) are welcomed and encouraged as it would save me the hassle of finding one, looking at it, buying etc. But of course it is also up for sale for good old cash. Which I will be asking for £2600ono. I am based in march, cambridgeshire as mentioned before.
You can either PM me, reply to the thread(wont get checked as quickly though) or give me a call/text on 07540765075. Please no calls before 6pm weekdays, any time at the weekend is fine, texts during the day are also fine and will be answered more quickly than other methods no doubt. Viewing/collection is available weekday evenings again after 6 or any time at the weekend including bank holidays coming up.
