I washed my car this weekend (after the carpark where it was became road works) and as soon as it dried a light wind covered it in grey dust. Argh! So it could well be ash from the volcano. I mean the wind brings sand from the sahara to here so possible.
Anyone else?

I've just been hosing my cars down, not trying to scrub the stuff off. Rain is now doing that for me!

Mine was covered in dust the other weekend, luckily the local fire station was running a charity wash so they hosed them down for me! ;D

I'm pretty certain the 'ash' isnt actually ash. Apparently only a very small amount actually dropped on to UK soil - and even that was only in the very north of Scotland. Most of it blew away
This 'ash' is most likely pollen/dust/etc from the hot weather and time of year.
... this is what online reports said though
