Hi all. I'm after a UK campervan, ideally VW camper, for up to £5000. Being a girly I don't really know what to look out for and where to start. Don't mind working on the interior but mechanically it has to be sound. Any offers or suggestions where to look will be gladly welcomed.

You wont find a VW aircooled for £5000 unless it needs work in the mech/bodywork stakes. A converted T4 may come in at budget, but I suspect you'll want something a bit more retro. Commer will give you similar (better! ) looks, more exclusivity and more value for money.

loads of choice for 5 grand, everything from old commers, bedfords and transit vans to much more modern stuff, if your not mechanically minded though i'd go for something thats easy to get parts for and easy to fix, a transit of some descripton is probably worth looking at, a good one will go for years and if they do break anyone can mend it, they stayed pretty much the same mechanically for about 30 years. This may give you some ideas of what you like the look of. www.classic-campers.co.uk/

Get a Commer, then get over to Commervanfan.co.uk and order a ticket for Commerfest Any of the above would make great suggestions, if you find a VW Camper for less than 5k then I really wouldn't buy it as it will need work unfortunately, most likely welding and mechanical. Here's a good suggestion, www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C152306/ or www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C142359/

Whatever you get, as long as its not too modern and shiny you may have some money left over ( maybe 2 grand? from 5 ) as long as you don't get skanked you can get a lot of work done for 2 grand.

shiiiiiiit if thats how much you have to pay for a tatty minibus with rot coming through everywhere i'd 100% DEFINATELY stay away from VW vans, i thought 500 quid for my transit was a bit dear!
