I'm looking at producing some moulds for 1/5 scale r/c cars - FG. HPi, Carson etc. Offroaders primerily.
I need ideas for car designs that will suit the big knobbly tyre/big suspension movement.
Baja Beetle bodies are already available.
First one for production is going to be classic mini.
I'm already well into doing an on-road GTM Coupe purely for myself.
Any ideas on what might work/sell.
Daft ideas/concepts are welcome - i've already thought about Subaru Brat - a definite possibility.

Hmmm, Golf is a possibility, but BM's I would think would only suit on-road, and you can probably already get them - especially as the big player in the market, FG, are German.

American pickup trucks are always popular, maybe some van bodies would go down well, traditional 4x4 shells as well, Rangey, defender, shogun etc etc

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

For off-road shells, naturally a lot of the obvious candidates have been covered already, such as the H1 Hummer, Jeep Wrangler, Beetle/Baja, Subaru, US Fullsize Pickups, Race Touareg and even a Pajero. As far as I can tell there's no Land Rover shells though, and they're nicely retro and off-road style. You could either go for an early Series landy, or a Defender, perhaps even a Bowler Wildcat-inspired modified Defender. Other possibilities could be a WWII Willys Jeep, Unimog, Mercedes G-Wagen, Land Cruiser FJ40, Kombi (Baja Bus style) or of course the Subaru Brumby (Brat) as you said. A G-Wagen shell in black with blinged-out chrome highlights would be awesome! Also, being that they're German and the Unimog naturally looks right with massive monster truck suspension under it, I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be an off-the-shelf Unimog shell. Tamiya does already do a highly detailed 1/10 Unimog, as shown below. Edit: More ideas! Vintage US pickups, like the F100: Or a van version of something similar: Also, how about a 1/5 scale version of the Lunchbox? Obviously not in a way that infringes copyright, but any American van would do!

Nice thoughts there cheers.
I've also had the brainwave of Group B cars - 6R4 gave me the idea as the standard Marder wheels would really suit it. An R5 Turbo Maxi would also be cool. Or Lancia 037, or Manta 400.... the list goes on.

Got made redundant yesterday so this might happen sooner than expected (No sympathy requested or required, i'm cool with it.) Will have to see how it goes after the GTM build and the mini mould is done (Doing a Mini Minus by the looks of it to stop legals from BMW/BMH (A-holes)) Think the Delica( ) is as bit obscure, but as I say, let's see how it goes. Just taken delivery of 9kg's of air-dry clay so should be getting on with it over the weekend.
