Mk3 Escort......its an opinon divider.

I lik the fact that its plain and simple - not a massive fan of stick on/bolt on styling. Just looks clean, but needs larger wheels and more tyre (same wheel style though)

I think you will find there was only one S1 that was painted another colour than White @ the factory and that as already said was Princess Di's Black one. There is another Black car but there is some speculation over whether this was painted by a dealer or at the factory. The same applies to the Datapost road cars. IIRC these were painted Post Office Red at the dealers for promotional purposes. They would have started out life as White although registered as Red prior to being put on the road.

Back to the car in question I have to confess that its been very very nicely done. However the mix of mk2 arches and wheels do not lend themselves too well to the mk3 shape imho. The rear arches especiallty have been played about with and trimmed to fit but they just do not follow the lines of the car. The seats are something else though, beautiful!! I can't work out what they are. They aren't the 1600i Scheel seats as they look like Recaros to me but the headrests are too wide to be normal Recaro ones from the likes of an RS Turbo. I love the subtle touch of the round RS pin badge on them from the mk1 RS2000 and the early style pin hole centres. The car is worth it for the interior alone, pure genius.

I reckon it isn't underwheeled, just undertyred. Some 185/60s or even 205/60s would improve the look massively, especially if the lip of the arch was trimmed up a tad more

Lots more rim inch requirred to fill those arches IMO - got loads of potential, just needs a tweek. At the moment it looks like "euro style" rims & suspension under a "rally style" shell & thats a bit of a wierd combo.

First thing I wondered was what sort of brakes it's running - there can't be much room behind those wheels!?

I love mk3 and 4 escorts, and this is a lovely clean example. But there is something about the arches that's a bit ott. I think flared standard arches would have suited it better. Still cool thou!

Makes sense thanks. The base and back did look like RST seats to me but its done so well with the "basket weave" and the larger headrests that it throws you off the scent.

I've had to save a copy of the pic as I've never seen anyone make such a beautiful set of seats. Interiors seem to be the one thing left alone in Ford tuning circles. Well apart from styling.

wheels to small and arches just wrong wrong wrongedy wrong, but then i always thing small wheels loo wrong on modern cars with big arches. its noce and clean and i love the rest of the concept, once again though the scalextric look don't suit full size cars.

don't like the arches.......theres a silver datsun 120a in the spotted thread which has arches that look almost identically done .....which also looks terrible......
Apart from that i do like to see a clean mk3 ;D
