I will love you and your car forever if you collage your headlining* with covers and centerfolds from Parade magazine. *dashboard or underbonnet or any other area of your car that you choose. lol, what a deal! Forever? I have more than enough copies to do the whole car and possibly my house I love this car. Great to see one so tidy being used! Nice one on the arches, look forward to the stance editing! I do think your in need of a G40 in that though.... ;D You are such a bad influence on me Phil, When my missus asks me where all of our mortgage/house money has gone I will send her your way. "I'm going to sell the 300bhp monster and buy something affordable and reliable darling" She saw right through that one. The real problem with your influence is that you are completely right. It needs anything with over 100 brake tbf. YOU made it so loud (yes, you) that it needs the bark backing up with some bite ;D

S'fine, just don't tell her. It'll still be a 1.3, I'll make it stealth/quieter too, she won't notice, happy days!
Even if she suss' the whine just tell her its your alternator belt, not really lying either! ;D

These wheels with NO stretch FTW!!! I'm not a fan of the stretched tyre, but I am a fan of G60 steels. They look absolutely spot on on a Polo coop. good work that man!

Thanks for the kind words guys, it's so nice to find a forum where people "get it" Anyway, after i had the arches done, I reversed off my parents driveway and as I was giving it a sweep I noticed a small puddle. Just as I expected it was petrol. Anyone who has ever had one of these cars or knows about them will confirm that the tank and the tank feed pipe rot badly. I did check this when I bought the car and I thought there was a while left in it (wouldnt have been a deal breaker anyway) but there is a small leak right by the join. I didn't get a shot of the leak itself but you get the idea. So because PhilJ (Jackson Tuning) is a complete legend I knew he could do the job. I didn't fancy changing a petrol tank on my own in the street lol I would probably blow up the car. Anyway I got Phil to order the tank and popped down there. While I had him working on it and ordering parts I got a pair of CV joints and boots too since they need doing. Here is the new tank: Shame that the special folk at euro car parts sent him the wrong tank and good job to Phil & co for checking before starting work! Oh well, got the CVs and boots replaced and getting the new tank in on Monday thanks to Phil. The CVs made more of a difference than I thought, she drives quite a bit better, not just when on lock but just over bumps there's less rattleage Hopefully I'll get my 20mm hubcentric alu spacers on Monday too because a buch of other "special folk" screwed that order up for me too! I've been told they got lost in the post and that they've sent out new ones so fingers crossed. Ebay can be a minefield sometimes so hopefully this works out. I've been waiting for about 20 days now after being told 5-7 days. On a lighter note, I took some pics at Knebworth VW & Mini show last weekend so I thought I'd whore them out a bit:

So here is the culprit, after we took the old tank out (waited for the new one first of course ) I could see the extent of the rot. To be honest it wasn't that bad, but it wasnt in a place that could be patched up easily and was leaking badly by the time the new tank came in. here's the RIGHT new tank (looks the same as the wrong one to me) and here is proof of it fitted (you can see some of the arch rollage in this shot too). Also today I finally recieved my spacers after waiting nearly 20 days and another ebay win showed up at the same time (only waited 1 day for these though)! yeah baby, retro 70's Lucas fogs with covers. not sure how they'll look on the car i might have to trial fit them before I drill any holes in the bumper as it was a bit of an impulse buy spaced out before: after:

So I wasn't sure about my Lucas fogs I won on the bay, I offered one up to the front of the car to see if it looked okay or if they were going to be gash. TBH I was quite pleased, I think they're alright. Since I decided to keep them, I gave them a nice polishing yesterday and they came up really well. before (actually more like during) after Should get them wired up and working this weekend, I just need a switch and some more cable. Might try maplins for the switch but I'm tempted to go for an oem VW jobbie. Am I right in thinking it's an MOT failure to not have a lighty uppy foglight switch?

Not posted in here for ages, thought I'd update it a bit before the gathering this weekend (cant wait) This isnt really a major update, it's mostly just little things like windscreen wipers and the finishing touches, so if you're easily bored look away now. Anyway, the air filter housing was looking a bit tatty, touch of surface rust and some chipping so I decided to give it a bit of a refurb. some nitromors and a bit of scraping: lots of scraping, some steel wool and elbow grease (the black bits are rust not paint): Then when i fitted it I realised how naff the standard air feed is, especially since I used to have a turbo this is a sore point for me so I got digging around in the basement to see what I had. Manged to come up trumps with some 56mm ducting stuff and a bit of old drainpipe. I slapped some black duct tape on the old girl and job was a good un. The next thing was to move the AA badge across to the other side of the grille to stop it from blocking it. Had to pop the grille off but it was easy and actually i think it looks better on the left (it's a bit like having an earring in your right ear - needs moving over) When I gave the old girl a good wash a few Sundays ago I realised that the plastic trim was fading again. I hate using that back to black wax stuff, it really is horrible. It only lasts a month or so and turns your hands, clothes and the surrounding paint black too. Anyway, i did a bit of research on the cyberwebs and found out about Gtechniq C4, it's really expensive and in a really small bottle, but apparently it lasts for two years! I bought it on a Wednesday afternoon and it was at the door the following morning, top service! Put it on last weekend and to say I'm impressed is an understatement, easy to apply, looks great and if it lasts half as long as they say I'll be happy. Also, I picked up some new Bosch wipers - actually difficult to find non-flat blade ones! I needed the old school traditional look of course Anyway, they're on and work GREAT And then last week I received my new dashboard panel with fangled new cigarette lighter! oh the luxury! i will soon be able to charge my mobile phone like the 21st century spoiled electronic consumer whore that I am i then dug the trusty autosol out and gave it a bit of steel wool: All I need to do is pop the fecker in and wire her up. While I'm doing that I'll hook those foglights up too. I managed to get them sorted out with a bit of yellow tinting film too, I know it's getting a bit scene now, but I love the way it looks: Then earlier this week came my loverley 70's style aluminium plates with the acrylic digits: aaaaaw yeah I love them long time, they look sweet on the car. Should hopefully get a touch more progress this week before: cant wait, should get messy
