Thanks Richard, yeah you're right about the bushes, they're on the TCA. don't get the Powerflex ones! I do drive it pretty hard but they were shot in no time at all so I imagine they would last about 6 months of normal use.
I know what you mean about the wiper too but I've been trying my best not to mess with it. After living with it for so long I quite like it now so you'll do well to talk me into changing it!
Would be great to meet up and have an anorak. Feel free to pop round whenever you like.
Martin

Weird about the bushes. I've ran Powerflex on 3 different Polo's including a set on my G40 I had for 7 years with no issues. Car still looks good Al

I arranged to meet Martin for the first time today as he only lives 5 minutes from me, had to check out this Polo. It really is a very tidy example indeed and drives really nicely. I can confirm it's as good as it looks in the pics. I was thinking about those Powerflex bushes being destroyed after such a short time. I wonder if the castor control washers which are convex had been fitted the wrong way around? They'd bite into the bush face and cause the damage seen, just a thought? Cheers, Richard.

Great work! Love all the little details such as the polished cig lighter.
Would love a polo coupe myself someday

Helious blue rattle cans being aimed at the centre caps by any chance Martin? When you gonna remove all the paint from the bonnet and allow it to rust, slam it on coilovers, fit 8J ATS rims with stretched 175/50 tyres and get that roof rack back on? You know you want to! Bit chilly for working on the car Martin eh?

yes mate it's bloody cold out there! Funny you should post in here I was going to ring you actually - but i've lost your number! the centre caps are going silver because I am a boring old fart. As for the rusty bonnet, coilovers and dishy 13s I reckon you can jolly pain in teh backside off in all seriousness i cant wait to get the Compos back on, I should have them refurbed before springtime. Ideas for colours greatfully accepted but you'll all have to do a good job of convincing me to not go for silver - i am after all a boring old fart. I may entertain the idea of polishing or diamond cutting the wheels but I'm probably too lazy to keep them nice.

Martin, you have pm. Personally I wouldn't do the Compos in anything other than plain silver, I reckon they'd look superb like that. As you say, diamond cut/polished may look good but they never stay nice for long. You end up constantly using Autosol every five minutes which is a right PITA for an everyday car IMO.

The compo's are a lovely and rare wheel. Very nice. Nice motor too.
Did you put any sort of protection or paint on the new fuel tank? I made the mistake of putting one straight on years ago on one of my old polo's and it failed the next MOT because it was already rotting.

thanks, yeah we were going to paint it but the new tank came coated, at least it looked that way - time will tell i guess! it really did look different to the other one so should be okay it's been on for a while now and it looked fine when it was on the ramps the other day but I'll keep an eye on it, thanks for the heads up.

As much as I like the OE Hockenheims I gotta say those Compo's look the absolute bees knees Martin. The ride height and stance are spot on, this needs nothing else cosmetically IMO. What size tyres you running, 185/50 or 195/45? Lovely car, now get your bucket out!

185/50/14s, nice compromise between handling and ride if you ask me.

So I thought i should give this a little update since I gave the car a wash on Thursday before heading out to the 8ball Diner for the RR East meet. Yes, that's right, I washed the car. Well not me, some foreign folks at the car wash. Definitely worthy of an update. I've also put the old square AA badge on (because I think it looks more at home than the older style jobbie) and fitted a new headunit which the missus procured for my birthday, which was jolly nice of the old girl if you ask me. It's an Alpine and you can put USB sticks in it, brilliant when you drive a car with a not-so-smooth ride since it wont skip! In addition to this i decided to paint the writing on my tyres white. Bit of a marmite decision probably but I think it looks cool because I'm a big child. So I took some pictures today, here's how she looks: So next up I'm ordering some new Parade stickers because I'm missing the one off the passenger side and I'm toying with the idea of getting a mate of mine to help me give it a proper detailing. We will see.

Didn't know these could be had with a 5 speed, good thing too otherwise you'd have rung it's neck getting out of my pinto oil cloud on the A12 the other night ;D
Silver compos work a treat with the dark blue bodywork, tasteful mods in effect.

I think the wheels make this car (that is looks so fresh) good job fella, looks sweet Your right, the wheels do help make it. BUT, this is one very, very tidy car. It's a lovely colour and the interior is mint too. IMO, this car needs nothing else cosmetically, it's a beauty. TBH, I'd like this car if it was on castors. ;D
