I haven't had this car for long, but due to a recent change in circumstances we've got to sell one of our three cars. Out of the three this is the only one that doesn't need work before it goes, so unfortunately it is now up for sale. Spec as follows..
1983/Y Mk1 Jetta C
1272cc
4-speed manual, manual choke
Just 67,000 miles
12 months MOT & tax till end of October
Totally standard and unmolested. Ripe for molesting then.
Inside it is all in fairly good nick, but the drivers seat has a tear, looks like it has been repaired in the past. It also has an original Blaupunkt radio cassette. All of the tyres are good with loads of tread, they don't look very old. The car has the original service book with a few stamps in it, and history going back to about 2000. There have been four previous owners not including myself.
It drives really well, a bit noisy at motorway speeds because of the crappy 4-speed, but it is cheap on fuel and it is actually quite a good laugh to drive. It is not perfect, but it is a really solid example, it doesn't appear to have ever had any welding in the past. It went through the last MOT with one advisory, that being the rusty front brake discs. The brakes are a tad spongy but you get used to it, it's totally safe but the discs could do with replacing at some point. The bodywork is good on the whole, however there is a small dent below the o/s/r light, and some surface rust on the front valance - they always seem to go here, but it isn't rotten. There is also a bit of rust creeping through on the windscreen panel (all pictured).
There a few little paint touch ups here and there, nothing that'd even show up on the camera though. The top half of the o/s/f wing has been painted at some point, and it has oxidised quicker than the rest of the paint, so is a slightly lighter shade. There is an area on the bootlid where someone has obviously left a small pot of paint or glue on it and left a ring - they've then tried to scrape it off, along with some of the paint. I was just going to cover that with a sticker to be honest.
The window rubber on the bottom of the o/s/r window has pretty much perished, don't think it's letting in any water, but it'll probably want replacing. The two rear doors are a bit sticky and sometimes don't open at the first attempt, doesn't really bother me though. When I got it, it was leaking water into the boot as the seal around the bootlock had perished, but i've since dried it out and changed the seal. During my ownership it has had the thermostat and housing replaced too.
I'm looking for £1500 ono, not looking for swaps thanks.
The car is located in Nuneaton, Warwickshire - if you'd like to view then PM me, ring me on 07783061325, or e-mail me at batmanccfc@yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks
