;D New Purchase. 1988 Volvo 340 Variomatic. Rubber bands for extra cool points. One gear fits all. Back in the game. Big cheers to Liam for running me around in the boneshaker. And helping me switch the wheels. And to John for selling me the car. Goodfellers. Needs a 2 in drop, a modded grille, A PH roofrack and a dished wheel. On the whole though, very happy with it.

When you're dealing with bncrew you're dealing with a man who uses a collective term to describe a single person.

Oh and if your looking for some lowering block's I got some you can have for cheepness fella just pm me Pm coming man. Variomatic is a Constant Variable Transmission. So its ONE gear, as opposed to a trad auto. On belt drives too. Vario explanation.Thay explains far better than I ever could. ;D

Variomatic. Designed and first introduced to cars by Dr Hub Van Doorne. Uses expanding and contracting pulleys with rubber belts and a centrifugal clutch. The system is identical to that used in every single DAF car ever sold that is what sits under the back end of this volvo. oh and for good measure have a video of the DAF club webmeisters 340 variomatic on the road. 300series volvos are welcomed by the DOC especially when they are varios. dafcars.proboards.com

I had a G reg 1.4 elasticmatic. didnt do much on mpg and the darn carb kept on comming loose even with using thread lock and spring washers!
still it was free motoring for 6 months and then sold it on for what was left of the tax!
masses of room under the bonnet and did think of throwing a RV8 in there but had the camaro on its umptteen engine swap at the time.
but still managed to get it sideways one christmas on a wet roundabout without even trying.

Andy True enough man. Mpg is weak. Trying to calculate mine with an intermittant mileometer/trip counter. Fail.
