I assume that's 3phase. I have been offered a few really cheap 3phase lifts over the years. single phase, now they seem to sell for good money, for the obvious reason.

We just scrapped one as no one wanted it, it needed new cables and a clean up, of the people i asked most of em said "nah, not buying new cables" which is worrying as they are not designed to last a lifetime, these lifts need safety checking and the cables replacing on a regular basis.

4 post lift aren't as useful as you'd think, I had one in my old unit hardly ever used it, so I scrapped it and fitted a 2 poster, much better, that got removed when i moved units and is now the one at A52..

i use a 4poster at work, and its wibblepoo. 2 posters are the way to do it

^^ Agree, got a 4-post which takes up far too much room, if i had my chance again 2-post would be the way to go. That said the 4-post is still much better than lying on your back

I had a four poster but never got round to installing it because it was just to big. I weighed it in eventually. Having used them plenty, I'll admit they have their uses (try fitting a new sill on a two poster!) but they do take up too much room and for a lot of jobs the ramps do get in the way.
My neighbour offered me a two postera while back for £150 which seems like a pretty good deal. If I do get it, I'll probably set it up outside next to my workshop rather than in it otherwise it'll mean I can only get one car in there.

Depends what your doing, my mate builds upmainly 70's and 80's saloons for racing and fast road use, big gearbox tunnels, exhaust tunnels, 6 linked rears, turrets, raised floors, big arches etc etc.

4 posters allow him to use axle stands and cross supports so he can cut the cars up without them folding in half, better for body mods because they allow you to support the shell in a lot more places, also safer to work inside the car on the lift or have the car up on one of the lifts and park another one underneath when the workshop is busy.

i agree. plus it lets you pick up a car with its weight on its wheels to diagnose problems that suddenly disappear as soon as the wheels droop, such as drivetrain/exhaust clearance problems on very low cars. id prefer a 4 poster any day.
