With the house move and getting ready for the speedybumps arrival in six weeks time, I've put RR, my Dubs and The Gathering to the back of my mind and now I can't summon up any excitement for next weekend. All I've read on my brief visits to the forum is about the plans and projects being finished off and the epic weekend everyone is looking forward too. I've got a dozen other things to do round the house, I've not had a chance to drive either Dub for a month or more (the Beetle is stuck on my parents drive doing nothing as i've got no space here for it yet) I don't think I can actually be bothered to drive 100 miles to Haynes on friday, can the might of RR inject some mojo back into me please

I think you just have to be put yourself on autopilot to get yourself there and the rest will take care of itself. One you get there you will no doubt enjoy yourself. Having said that, Family's more important and if you think you need to prioritise your efforts in that direction, just do it. I'm as big a car nut as anyone you'd meet, but at he end of the day, It's just a car, it's just a car show. They don't mean a thing weighed against Family.

I know what you mean, Until recently we had are house on the market, so I just left the Austin sat in the garage. It was sat there for nine years whilst all my time and money went in to the house. So after months of silly offers on the house we decided to stay put. Now that I know I am not moving my mojo has returned, and I am starting to make progress at last on the little car. And I am really looking forward to the gathering now I have a bit more enthusiasm. Remember there's always some poor sod who's worse off than you.

I saw a baby blue camper on grey BRM's on the m20 last sunday and thought of you! I am looking forward to your pics from the gathering because they are always of high quality and capture the atmosphere. plus they make excellent wallpapers This will be your last RRG without an ickle-un in tow. Make the most of it!! (that's not to say that having a wee one is a pain/hassle etc they are well worth it!! I haven't got any but just looking after my 10month old niece is awesome fun )

I'm going the other way at the minute....I've been in the Mojo Doldrums for the last nine months or so, now I can feel the sap rising in me in fervent anticipation of getting a MAJOR boost next weekend (surely there can't be many 45 year-old men who can say that).....and yet another ill thought-out impractical but cool purchase will be made in early 2011. Do what thou wilt Steve, families are WAY more important than cars, as has already been said. But you're one dude who I will be made up to (speed)bump into next weekend. ;D

But Steve, I love you and I'll miss you if you are not there.
Baby will change everything, thats a fact, so priorities will change... but the sound of rubber being left on the track, the awesome queue of cars going into the grounds... me getting sun burnt and dehydrated (again)... whats not to like!?

Woah! Please go! Be there for me as I can't be there in person because of the family.
You know it will only take a small idea on a nice car and your mojo will be bouncing up and down in front of you again. Plus, you're bound to take some good pictures and they'll inspire you further.

Steve
If your really struggling for the whole weekend thing, then i know how you feel - my mojo is up there (for ta change) but funds arent - and I've been asked to work friday and saturday after booking as leave for time n half..
so I've bowed out of the camping and will be driving down in the early hours sunday morning, so if the mojo doesnt return and you still don't want to drive, then jump in the santana and head down with us Sunday morning..
Secretly I'm hoping for everyones sake that the Speedycamera gets there for the weekend and catches everything that I'm missing out on friday and saturday

I have been struggling with mojo for sometime now, up and down, so many shows I have not gone to because I couldn't be bothered, last beach party was one that really pi55ed me but plenty more besides, if it wasn't for plans laid I would be in your position for this weekend too. Problem with that is it sends you more down just thinking about what you would be missing so you know you have to go, you will not regret going but you will always regret not going. The people, the atmosphere, the cars, the opportunity for taking ace pics and the chance to take the mick out of a lot of people doing daft things happiness is contagious and who's going to drive?? Family is wayyyy important but you're no good to them if you are not happy and your mind is elsewhere

Cheers chaps, I think I was just having "one of those days" been putting in long old hours at work and at home trying to get everything sorted in time, yesterday I had a big push through the evening and got the nursery 90% ready for the cot to go when we get it, just need to fit some carpet one evening and its done. After a morning glossing woodwork and shifting more stuff around the garage is clear at last so we treated ourselves to trip to my parents to fire the Beetle up and go to the monthly VW club meet, several hours nattering away, some spannering to fit the seatbelts so SWMBO can actually fit in the car safely. The whole fleet is finally home. And yes, thats a wood laminate floored garage, I am officially a tart! Kim said I should go to The Gathering as a last blow out before the bump arrives and things get busy for a bit. The house is virtually ready and a anything else can just wait until I get a spare evening to plod through, so I need to book friday off work, nab some cider and food and brim the fuel tank. Mojo well and truly boosted thanks to the great RR spirit. Thanks guys ;D
