^ This guy is the reason that once I get mine on the road I'm keeping my A-series and upgrading that instead. ^ Got to say I didn't realise you were on here, and as I've said before looking forward to the day your vans done Brilliant car and I hope I'll see it at the clubs National (the saloon that is).

Just seen that last post. By now you have experienced warp factor 3 in the A35 and if you go to the Gathering in August you may see me make a fool of myself on the hill at Prescott.
Van, after lots of delays, is now very close to paint and I hope to have it ready for the NEC in November.
Just bought some forged Omegas so its 25 psi here we come.

Well now mine is on the road, after it's second day driving I can appreciate the difference even more now. Definitely a bit of a difference between my A35 and yours.

Long time without looking at this site but I have not been sitting on my hands. The A35 continues to give sterling service and always surprises me when I really let rip (which is quite often it has to be said) It may have a circuit outing later this year as well as the usual hillclimb appearance. Meanwhile I have been working on the rusty and incomplete van that I bought over 2 years ago ! It looked like this : It now loo ks like this : and this : It seems happy to share garage space with its brother.

Forgot to say that the van is also 1275 turbo, Type 9 5 speed, discs, telescopic shocks etc etc etc
I was going to use a BMW E30 gearbox and made all the bits to fit it and then found it wanted to occupy some of the space that my steering rack conversion needed. I wanted the rack conversion more than the BMW box, which was a shame because it is much tougher than the Ford, has better ratios and is lighter because it is all ally.

I wanted to do something like this a few years back after seeing Rae Davis's prepped ones cornering on three wheels at the revival. Space, time and children..........amongst other projects got in the way. Lovely pair of cars........my dad has a Somerset....not fast at all!

Yeah, well, we all labour under the same sort of constraints at some point in our lives.
I admit I am obsessed with these stupid little cars and am lucky that my wife likes them too.
The saloon was bought in 1979, following a series of others in the early years of our marriage, and is now a part of the family.
I am lucky to be able to have time and a little money to be able to pursue my teenage dreams in retirement and how many people are lucky enough to do that ?

What a brilliant story, inspiring stuff. I've just picked up a 1955 Standard Ten and am planning to go down a similar route.
