1989 Fiat Tipo 1.6 in Birmingham. Pics to follow soon, I have acquired a Fiat Tipo 1600 DGT petrol with the funky digital dash, it's done 89,000 miles and has had two previous owners. Huge history file, I got it from an old lady in her 80's who has given up driving. She had it over 10 years. It's been well looked after and it drives well, I brought it up to Birmingham from Taunton with no issues and have been using it daily. Mot'd til February 2011. Currently on loan to a friend (hence no pics) but he gets his Range Rover back tomorrow and I will have it available for viewing.
The bodywork is not too bad - no rust but the paintwork, once red, has faded to a strange orange hue that is particular (and peculiar) to Fiats of this vintage. The original wheeltrims have gone missing (it had three nasty aftermarket ones on and is currently not wearing any). The seats are a velour-type grey that is a little thin in places but still reasonably respectable. Has electric windows that work, and central locking that sometimes works but usually doesn't. Has tax til the end of August, but it's disabled tax - not sure what to do about that to be honest.
Drop me a PM if you'd like to come and see it - it would make a great cheap runabout/parts chaser, or you could drop an Alfa engine in it and have a great sleeper. £325 or a very near offer takes it.
Oh, and it still has a 'Car Of The Year 1989' sticker in the back ;D

Oooh, I had a 1.4DGT back in the day. Lovely handling little hatchbacks. No rust in the front subframe? The rest of the car is galvanised, so that's usually the only bit to cause issues.

Diabled tax, btw, has to be surrendered and the car needs taxing at a VRO to change the taxation class from memory. Which I think is over Kitts' Green way and they're really helpful and friendly down there, I'm interested, have PMd, but not hopeful Issue currently being that if I spend the cash to buy a car because my Golf's off the road, then I could have spent the cash on fixing the Golf. Keen for this though, I really did love my old Tipo and the dashboards are awesome.

i'm assuming its a 5 door. been swearing at my mothers 3 door tipo today. shock bolts drop into the box section and its a curse word to get out.garage failed it for a light misting on the shocks grr.
they do rust a little although normally only subframe as mentioned and the sills on sedici due to the sill covers.
the tipo is a fantastic motor, and yes if anyone has a scrap alfa 155v6 be a nice swap. and if its a 3 door i'll get tempted away from another car i have my sights on. so lets hope its a 5

Thanks for the replies everyone, it hasn't come back from my mate yet so can't get pics til tomorrow now. I haven't been underneath to check the subframe, there's no rust to the body (as someone else said, I think they were galvanised) I'll have a look when I get it back. It is a five door sorry! Richard I've replied to your pm, and thanks for the info on the tax. Pics tomorrow, promise

PM replied, do check back as if you're into a bit of eBaying could be another 100+ over your asking price!
The subframe issue is sneaky - I had a lovely Tempra 1.8i.e. in 2000, it was only 9 years old and the subframe rotted out by the mount. Was only worth £800 working even then and the repair cost wrote the car off sadly :/

PM replied to, thanks Richard Much as I would like to do that swap, I really need to generate some cash (to keep the g/f in the manner to which she has become accustomed lol) so I'll have to pass for now.

My offer still stands! In fact, I'll do all three Electribes, DX11 and NI Kore plus Yamaha '80s drum machine I found...
(Admittedly they're heading to eBay soon, but then I'll fix my Golf when they sell. And part of me would really like to play with a Tipo again, they handle so well).

As much as I would like to play with that kit, if I came home with it instead of some much needed cash I would almost certainly get lynched by my better half So I'm afraid I must decline the swap and wait to see if any cash is forthcoming for the Tipo. I do appreciate the offer though

Hi, As far as I can see it looks fine - and there were no advisories on the mot. It would be great if I could get someone to come and see it, at least I'd have a second opinion. It has an mot til February, done 89k with loads of history and two owners, you can drive it away and use it immediately...and it's £300, which is considerably less than two weeks rent on the titchy little house with no parking that I've just signed up to with the missus

curse word!!! That looks the bees knees! Thanks ;D Several hours of elbow grease, G3 polishing compound and some old wheeltrims I found in the shed = win! Got to shift some motors though, as I'm going to struggle to store them all once I move house.

That's looking extremely tidy! Unfortunately I did this: And discovered that they do some funky stuff with audio chopping on the drum machine, so they didn't end up on eBay. Still, another bump at least! These are way more fun to drive than non-GTi Mk II Golfs, IMO.

Nice set up! I used to love playing around in the studio, and have been present when some great and well known tunes have been made I've never produced anything worthwhile myself though, I was always more focused on DJ'ing. Spent a fortune on records, most of which I still have - about 6000 of the blighters taking up a huge amount of space...but I wouldn't part with 'em PS anyone want to buy my Tipo? It's nice and shiny now ;D

Used to be: And before that it was 13 synths, 48-channel ex-Fish desk, MIDI guitar, bass and drums and a lot of '80s gear like Yamaha TX816. Never did anything useful with it besides collaborate on one track with Deathboy though.Rubbish at recording. I just like having kit (And yes, people should totally buy the Tipo. Those digital dashboards are way cooler than the Vauxhall ones, let alone the VW digi dash).
