Everything I seem to do with cars recently seems to go wrong or end up be a massive pita! Basically ever since I got rid of my green Sierra Yesterday was the final straw, I have been desperately trying to get my current Sierra ready for a drift day at Llandow next Thursday. I was fitting yet another fuel tank as the previous one which was a "brand new" tank surges really badly, fitting the tanks was easy despite the fact I was doing it in a wet farm yard surrounded by cow poo! Success the tank was in great well until I tryed to put petrol in it, 4 YES 4 friggin holes so after waiting ages for the petrol to pour all over the floor I caked the bottom of the tank with Chemical metal (god I love it!) it now seems to hold fuel. So I took the car out to see if the new/old/leaky tank stopped the surge issues. Which it did joy but about an hour after of driving it about it bows developed a misfire at 4000 rpm. Last time it did that it was the fuel pump! I really hope it's the the fuel filter that's blocked, I cant face pending another £50 on a fuel pump. Feels like I've wasted I over £100 on fuel tanks that bearly work. I actually hate cars now!

Yeah the brand new tank I brought was advertised as an fuel injection tank and you can see the swirl pot inside. However it's a different design to the OE one and is obviously rubbish.
Sorry for my negative post I'm just really annoyed, been really looking forward to this event at Llandow and now the car is probably not going to be worth taking!

Bad times mate.
How come the brand new tank had holes in it?! And the misfire would lead me to suspect fuel starvation and a lean misfire.

Everything I seem to do with cars recently seems to go wrong or end up be a massive pita! Look on the bright side: at least you don't have to pay someone else's labour rates everytime the cars need something done. I actually hate cars now! And don't forget that old cars make lovely garden ornaments for a couple of weeks until you regain your enthusiasm for working at them. Sorry, that's the best I could do.

My cars usually have stints as being garden ornaments - I'm done with getting stressed with them. They'll get done, in my own time, when I have the time and money. They ain't going anywhere.

I know I'm a long way. But i have a tank here from that mk2 i broke, used but perfect. £20 if u want it, still has sender and bits inside i didnt bother to disturb it when i removed it. Just cut pipes and wires.
Not sure what would be involved getting it onto a mk1, cant see it being much.
£20 if u want it. take now, pay later if u wish to make sure it's doing what u need it to.

Sorry to here it isn't going to plan car wise at the moment mate. Have some pictures of some inspirational Sierras as a mojo boost. Chin up pal you've got another Sierra, it can't be too bad! I think that post is the definition of irony...that green Sierra there is OP's original heroic Sierra. ;D

Robin, if you can get upto Bristol (well yate) tomorrow evening (need to be back on the road by 7 though), you can have the ally swirlpot I've got kicking about and you can even borrow my facet slivertop pump (will be all the bits extra you'll need to get it up and running with your existing HP pump).
