Mark - serious Q here - how do you manage to get through this much on bodywork so quickly? I'm going nuts trying to get panels flat - filled - flat again etc.... and you're on the way to completion in a fraction of the time. Beggars belief...... I really do not understand when/where I'm causing so many f***-ups but I must be! Glad to see this will be on the roads again soon...... excellent work mate. John very little bodywork needed on this one as i did it a few years ago and its held up well despite being abandoned for a while but doing the work quick is basically from my years of doing it for a living quicker you can turn a job round but still keeping the quality of work the more work and more money you can get in i just still work to the same way even though its not what i do for a living any more

Looks great Mark,it's gonna be a tear jerker to see it back home again. The Chuvit first graced our driveway in January2003 to be James,s first car once he reached 17.In those days there was little interest in retro rides and cars like Chevettes were hard to shift.Having had several Chevettes in various forms over the years as family hacks I thought that the ideal first car for James would be a hatchback. A thread was started on the Chevette forum asking for a good shell as a basis.A chap from beyond Exeter rang me within 2 days....he had 2 & we could have both of them for the price of a take away.Result! One had tax & mot,the other was as then only good for a parts car.James and I went down on the train from Colchester with a bag of spanners, stripped what we could get of the parts car & loaded what would become the Chuvit with as much as we could for a non stop drive back to Mersea Island,nr Colchester. We had even decided that if we broke down we would leave it where it was & thumb it. We got back safely at a steady 60 all the way on one tank of gas at about 1 in the morning.........work started the very next day doing all the usual service stuff, clutch, brakes parts & much welding. The Chuvit was ready for Mersea Motor Madness in June and was finished in satin black, red wheels and Ivory ghost flames up the bonnet & down the sides too.......James got the NASC choice award & then in August at the NASC Nationals he got the Young Guns & Upstarts awards...............still on L plates too. Lol

Just came back to this thread to say that it`s nearly a year since the Chuvit came back home.My daughter hasn`t passed her test yet but that hasn`t stopped Chuvit attending various events during that year......Brass Monkey Run,Easter Bonnet,Turtle Speed April Fool,Mersea Madness,NASC Nationals & cruise and recently Battlesbridge.Chuvit is living outside and has had some work done over the year, just gentle fettling adjustments, sound proofing,wax/anchor wax stuff underneath.Currently in dayley use by the older Sister while her Herald is brought back to life....another story that one. Another Big Thanks to Mark!
