Straightening a hub?BenzBoy

I'm after a little advice. I've been working at sorting the Bond's driveshaft issues, and thanks to Jikovron I now have a good driveshaft!
However, the original hub is also in a bad way - the keyway has been brazed up in places and is in bad condition. I don't think it's saveable.
I've got another hub that came with the driveshaft but it's bent. Is there any way to straighten them or am I just putting off the inevitable buying a new (recon) one?
I've clamped it in a vice which has straightened it a little but there's still loads of distortion - the runout on these things must need to be pretty tight. Am I just wasting my time? A recon hub is about £40.

got any pics? might be worth trying to get as straight as possible then have the impostant faces skimmed on a lathe, i'm not familular with triumph bits, but if it's cast iron go carefully might introduce the start of a crack, be worth spraying with the dye-penetrant kits to check afterwards.
With the above in mind if there's lots of meat on them just get it true'd up in a lathe.

for £40, id just buy a re-con if you don't have your own lathe. itll cost more than that to get it trued up. also bear in mind if you have to true it any amount removed has to be compensated for otherwise the brake drums will run offset to their original position so you will need to remove any wear off them or the shoes wont fit within the current wear band.

£40? I'd just buy a hub. It's not worth your time to save that.

Thanks chaps. It's just me being a cheapskate again... £40 isn't too bad really. I was going to look at cleaning up the keyway in the original one but it's been butchered. I suspect the key actually rocked over in the keyway and caused damage to that and the driveshaft. Dez - I never thought about the brake drum! Right, I'll add it to the list of parts. ;D Thanks again.
