I remember living in a top floor flat, so glad I don't anymore! Bet your neighbours loved you clanking and thumping all the way up to the top It's a pain hey. I brought it upstairs as I've no time for being down the garage what with my only time off being late o'clock and today when I've had the kids all day. The neighbours are cool with my goings on and only got upset the once when I attempted to ride my dirtbike up the stairs (didn't work, not enough run up ) Good news is that the 'member' is pretty much sorted by doing little stints as and when. ARB is hanging up in the kitchen and the paint should be dry by the morning, just need some time to get the welding sorted and get it back on the car. Many thanks to all the usual suspect cortina Internet experts both on here and buysell for the hints and tips in getting the job done. This stuffs easy for some but the likes of me needs a little guidance, cheers chaps

Now officially off the road Tax cashed in, mot expired and insurance now swapped to the interim pug whilst it's in surgery. Slow progress is being made replacing the rot with fresh metal, front n/s cross member mount nearly there (tricky curse word that it is) I'll be doing a bit on the o/s inner wing whilst access is good before refitting the member and having a rolling car again. Sad that it's off the road though the fact they are covered in salt means it's probably for the best as things stand. Have a smokers break pic. It WILL be back soon. Needs to be on the road for the Cortina's anniversary year + I'll be needing the axel stands back to get the Leon through it's mot in Feb ;D

Ha ha ;D Still have some rubber on the laminate in the hall from a minibike new years eve burnout 3 years back!!! Most engine related stuff now resides outside the flat due to the kids having the garage 2nd bedroom. Used to be great fixing bikes in the warm and dry and not the dank dark lockup. Could be far worse mind, at least I have some shelter from the rain.

Well, I've been using that shelter again today with an old mac covering the mig and electric supply which were far more important to keep dry than my feet. I've managed to finish off the subframe mount at long last, not quite tonyBM spec and by no means a invisible repair though plenty strong with the drain remade so it's not a water trap like the last effort. The inside and outside have been treated with the appropriate potions so it should last well.
Bit of fiddly curse word to do and my jumper's now full of holes but good practice and quite enjoyable in that sadistic way that working on a car often is ;D
Looking forward to getting it back on it's wheels, not least because there's stuff at the back of the garage I need and can't reach.

Due to one thing or another it's been a long time since since I've got greased up with Tina so today I got dressed up for the occasion. Cleared up the wildlife that had blown in under the garage door and taken up residence where my front wheels should be. And re-acquainted the poly'd subframe with the chassis putting the old girl back on her wheels for the first time in a long time. Big big mojo boost today, feels like I'm winning again

Well, I'd love to tell you all that it's now cosworth powered and all painted up lickerty split but the fact is that there she lay /\ /\ /\ for the last many months whilst 'stuff' has got in the way of any real progress Anyway the mold has been cleaned from the interior (kept the windows shut to stop the mickeys getting in FAIL) and after the gathering and impending sale of the 309 I feel a bout of Tina fixing is imminent. I'm writing this down in the hope it makes me pull the finger out, wish me luck.
