Wow, this conversion is going to be interesting What is the difference in the height of the blocks and the gearbox sizes? One other thing - what were the donor wheels for the banding exercise?

a nice swap to do and it'll really transform your car. will be intrested to see how you develope this. will you do the same as we did and drop the x/member clean mount and build new mounts off it or do you plan to mod the sx engine mounts?

i am using SX engine mounts, lower the crossmember and inch to clear the bonnet, annoyingly i cant just mount the engine lower due to the stupid front bowl sump! with 10mm thick plate to mount it to the capri crossmember and then a brace under each mount, gearbox mount will be made of a combo of the sx mount and capri mount chopped and welded jimmy, i will upload more pics of the engines together, they are pretty much the same size and the wheels are from a mondeo

engines together as you can see, not far off at all and this was yesterdays work there are few rusty bits that will need a little attention, leading edge of the battery tray for one, but no biggie

Awwww, this is going to be awesome can you notch the crossmember and chassis mount? *shrug* Mondeo steels....no inner clearance probs? The OSF lot always seem to moan about inner clearance issues.

yeah, there is, but i modded my exhaust to suit, they do hit the front struts sadly, but hubcentric spacers have sorted that, but i think i am gonna be gettin another pair done with 3" band on the outside and 1" cut out the rears
and "notch" crossmember?

If the sump bowl interference is minor, shape and re-weld the crossmember around it? Done right it would keep its strength and you could sit the engine lower but obviously if the interference is significant I wouldn't want to cut too much out of it. Just a thought, seen similar done before.
EDIT - scrub that, the rack is in the way. Forgot that the rack is in front. *facepalm*

Will be interesting to see this built. will you be stripping the loom down? we took out about 3 tesco bags of wiring and a bag of tape. so many wires going to the back that you just don't need on the capri. talk to spitsx he did mine for me (mint job aswell). Dave u got ur capri up and running yet? hopefully will be some capris at the gathering this year

yeah mate, the loom will be gettin stripped of pretty much everything, I will use the engine part of the loom, some of the clock loom and the loom for the fuel pump. Lights, aircon, door locks, interior lights, electric windows etc etc will all go
will be fairly basic when I am done

Nice one dude coming along nicely - a word of warning! You havent finished grinding that b!tch! I had the same isse with the wideness of the cooler but cut through the inner wings to house my pipes. Gonna pull the car out again and take some proper photos with my DSLR to bump my enthusiasm up in the next couple of days. Seeing you get stuck in is helping get my chin up Whats the next plan then? If you need any info/help giz a shout Tom.
