1990 Mini City 998cc Auto in primrose yellow. No tax or MOT
While I wouldn't say it's a basket case, it does need a lot of work. The car has been standing for 6 years and I brought it with the intetions of restoring it back to life as it was such a low milage car(45,ooo). But due to having a little baby boy, I just don't get the time to work on it. I have been tempted to strip it for parts that I could use for my main mini, but I just can't bring myself to destroy her.
It has had some work done to the front end in he past by the previous owner, which isn't the best job in the world. When I first got her, I decided she needed the following panels:
Drivers door
Drivers side A-panel
Rear valance
Rear valance closing panels
Front panel + possibly a n/s wing as this is where the *poop poop* repair is (fiberglassed around the headlamp
Front O/S & N/S floor panels with rust into the arch areas
Small patch on O/S/F sill
Bumpers are very rusty
Leading lip on bonnet rusted
The subframes have corrosion on them, but I reckon with a wire wheel they would come up well and are fairly solid. I have had the engine running and it went into all gears, but have never driven it. The front brake callipers are in a bad way, but 2nd hand calipers will be supplied. The interior is in great condition, I don't think the rear seats have even been sat on lol. Since I have had the car, I have done the following:
Fitted a head gasket set and cylinder head(new valve seals, lapped in the valves and decoke)
Set the valve clearances
Cleaned out the fuel tank and fuel lines of crud
Cleaned up the carb
Checked the rear brakes and free'd off the adjusters
Repaired a fault within the starter motor
Fitted an ultimate engine steady, as it was missing
Below are all the photos I have:
Comes with the panels needed to get her an MOT. Would be great if someone wanted to put her back on the road The dash has been sold, as well as the alloys.
So I am open to offers. The car will be need to be trailered away. Collection from Brighton area
