Right, what I'm after is a book preferably, but if you know of websites or anything else let me know, that completly explains all aspects of the workings of the car. From how things work, to names of individual parts, from engine, to chassis, top to bottom, end to end! Ive started a new job, change of career within the motor trade, and I could really do with some night time reading up on proper names and terms and workings of the 'thingys' and 'jobbers'!! So, if you've got the titles, names of authers, or isbn numbers, can you put them up!Would be very much appreciated. Cheers! ;D

I would say a Haynes manual but if I have to resort to that, I know I am in deep sh1t and not going to get out of it and the photos are always bloody useless and too sparse, and always has that line "Refitment is reversal of removal" (no sh1t sherlock) For specific models so far there was a volkswagen aircooled book with amazing pictures and hippy style writing which name I can't remember, and for saab's there is the Bentley Bible.

This was my text book at college. It is everything you could ever want to know and more 2nd this ISBN number 0-7487-0531-7 They also do a motor vehicle electronics one as well(green cover IIRC, probably worth getting, I imagine it'd cover CAN-BUS systems and most other forms of electrickery thats common place on motors these days.

If you can find a copy, The AutoCar Handbook anywhere from between 1910 to the 1950's will tell you a lot. As silly as it sounds, it will give you all sorts of information even down to the theory behind how an epicyclic gearbox works. Despite the fact that cars were simpler then, most of the info still holds true today.
