Additional Information:
I resurected this little corker from hibernation in July. It had been sat in a garage for a number of years and it was touch and go as to whether an enthusiast got it or the scrappie! I'm pleased to say I got it, bought sight unseen, transported in a very professional way by Petrolhead of theis parish to the legendary Les at BL Transverse who went about it's resurection.
So it arrived there populated by one mouse who left of his own accord now he wasn't in a dry garage and an assessment was done. It turned out it was garaged after the clutch went so a new cluch went in, and a slave cylinder, the wheel cylinders were shot as were the rear brakes, and subframe bushes and it needed welding to the sills and after all this it earned a new MOT....and 6 months tax, oh, and then it needed a wheel bearing! As I didn't get my hands dirty once doing this you can imagine it currently owes me far in excess of what I'm asking and quite honestly I could do with the cash for a few new resurrections I have planned.
It now starts on the button and is a pretty smooth ride, the carb was adjusted for emissions so it likes a bit of choke, I'll get Les to re-adjust it I think. Being the 1500 it's not the fastest car in the world but it does fall into the cheaper tax bracket! It cruises happily between 60 and 70, on taking it down some nice twisty lanes in Surrey last weekends it proved to be a fine handling car and lots of fun. This is my third Maxi (2x 1500, 1x 1750) and it is by far the nicest, really practical cars that are full of character!
The car is still cosmetically challenged, the important stuff has been done and it has had a full de-filth followed by a T-Cut & Polish and it does look great, the photos probably make it look better than it it is but not by much. The Longbridge paint shop has a lot to answer for and there are little chips all over, a small hole in the bottom of the near side front wing, the off side rear wheel arch, next to the off side bonnet hinge and at the top of both front wings where they meet the inner wings, like I said, the sills were plated for the MOT and you can still see the scorch marks.
It comes with a big history file, V5, MOT, two sets of keys and the tax. I may be up for a swap but cash is king on this!
I'll bung it on ebay soon but in the mean time it's all yours!
