Not a really really retro car, I know, but I'm not going to launch into the whole rubbish to go with that, as far as I'm concerened it was built in 1991 and that makes it quite old. And its about to get interesting Don't read it if you don't care for it ;D
This has been lanquishing in our bangers compound at work for ages. I learned that the Martin (my boss) had bought it for the bargain price of £400 on a trade in to build a works track car with. So we decided we aught to crack on and actually do something with it.
Take one minging 325i with a healthy engine and a set of M3 wheels.
Poke it a bit-
Hmm..
Maybe more poking was needed. Poking on a ramp perhaps.
Ahh.
Need some metal there then. So that aside, we decided the best thing to do was to have a cup of tea. And fit a cone filter.
Because of where the worst of the rust is, we needed to strip the interior before we could weld it. But we needed to do that anyway, because BMW trim is made from lead and dark matter and this wants to go fast
Junk coming out of the boot:
Back seats out:
Front coming apart:
Mountain of rotten smelly trim:
More tea was consumed, we did more silly things:
Back to work:
Interior nearly done:
Fave pic so far I think :
Still do do is remove the heafty sunroof gubbins, and all the redundant wiring. And jump up and down on the annoying toad alarm which bleeps if you so much as breathe near the car.
Then onto welding and bodywork, then respray, and then suspension... it goes on and on..
If anyone has any cheap bucket seats, harnesses or a lowering kit for one of these lovely barges, let me know
That all for now..
