Well, I literally know NOTHING about these apart from the fact I LOVE them haha. I havent seen a thread for these anywhere, so I hope I'm not reposting anything......
Anyhow, love these function-over-form monsters..... let me explain what I'm wittering on aboot!
Take an old Nissan Patrol / Toyota Landcruiser...... add lots of turbos and/or a v8.... tune to 1000+bhp...... drive up rediculously steep sand dune very quickly!
Added jeopardy for the fact that should you roll it, you may start rolling back down the hill uncontrollably! and its STEEP! (there are vids if you really want to watch)
/\ Shows the steepness we're talking, the lowest class is first, it gets interesting when it gets to "6 cylinder full" @ 2:06.... seem to have a lot of engine deaths in this vid!
/\ epic inside 'view'
found this snippet of info...
So 50degree hill then!
Moar pics....
Moar vids....
/\ couple of 'specials' at the start before getting down and seriously with the modified 4x4s again 1:21
/\ interesting look at some of the metal
Have to say, would love to know why they all run filterless.... all that sand?! or maybe they just clog to quick?!?
Anyhow, I think they're badical.

Al Anabi Racing team finishes first in the sand at Moreeb Dune Hill Climb
(1-31-2009) ABU DHABI, UAE – The Al Anabi Racing Team finished in 1st place in the 8 Cylinder category and 2nd place in the 6 Cylinder category during the Abu Dhabi Motors Club, Liwa Festival 2009 Desert Challenge event at Moreeb Dune, near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Brothers Hamad and Sarea Al Hajri of Qatar, were able to pull off the feat with nearly identical elapsed times despite the rather large difference in the power capabilies of the two machines which they drive. The wininng time for the V8 class was a 9.48 from the 800 cubic inch Reher-Morrison/SpeedTech Nitrous truck tuned by Shannon Jenkins while the Turbo/MoTeC Alan Johnson Performance Engineering Toyota 6 cylinder truck tuned by Shane Tecklenburg ran a 9.50.
The event was contested on the 50 degree angled slipface of Al Moreb (Scary Mountain), one of the tallest in the world at 990 feet with the finishline located approximately 3/4 of the way up. Each competitor was allowed 2 shots at running the lowest elapsed time for his respective class.
The win was made all the more sweet with the support of the entire Al Anabi Drag Racing team after the cancellation of the drag event that was to take place in Bahrain on January 30, due to poor track conditions. Al Anabi Pro Mod drivers, Mike Castellana and Von Smith and tuners Jenkins, Rickie Smith and Howard Moon were on hand for the occasion as well as all crew personnel and guest Nero Deliwala of Titan Motorsports. Team driver and UAE resident, Khaled Al Balooshi, who recently drove an A/Fuel Dragster in the US was on hand driving as well but was unable to complete a full pass as his powerful truck drifted out of bounds
