Like the title says, this is a Mercedes 190E with a 2-litre engine and 5-speed manual gearbox. It was owned until recently by a lady who had had it for years until she was eventually persuaded to replace it with a new Audi A3. She seems to have kept the mechanicals maintained regardless of cost - the car had a brand new radiator and heater matrix less than a year ago, and it certainly feels much tighter than any other car I've owned with this kind of mileage. The engine seems sweet and the oil pressure is superb. The gearbox is typical of Mercedes manuals in that it's a bit clunky, but I've not found it any worse than any RWD Volvo for example. The engine pulls well enough and the car handles better than I'd expected, and I'm sure it could be persuaded to go sideways if the need were to arise.
Bodywork wise it has a few scratches and scuffs, but is still quite presentable for its age. The only thing that really lets it down is some rust on the OSF wing round the top of the arch and the indicator - this appears to be surface rust rather than rot though as the arch feels completely solid, so should just need sanding down and touching in to make it look good again. The Mercedes badge is missing off the boot, but the bonnet star is still there.
Underneath appears to be solid from a quick poke around. I don't know what it'll need for an MoT, but I can't see it being much. All the electrics seem to work OK, and the heater is superb - it starts putting out warm air within about two minutes of a cold start. I've done nearly 300 miles in the car this week, in all kinds of traffic and weather conditions, and it's never missed a beat.
Below is the only photo I have of the car at the moment - I'll take some more over the weekend.
